Welcoming Spring in joy
With Chanh ethnic people in Hoa Loc hamlet, Minh Hoa commune, Dau Tieng district, in this year they enjoy a Spring amid a new joy because a road leading to their village is asphalted, connecting with main road of the commune. In the recent years, Cham ethnic people have planted rubber trees to replace cashew, so their life have been improved significantly.

An adequate Tet
In the last days of the year, we paid a visit to Khmer ethnic group in An Binh commune, Phu Giao district. Visiting Suoi Sai resettlement area in Gia Bien hamlet, Tam Lap commune, local ethnic people are busy to work at plantations of cashew, rubber, manioc and vegetables on the total area of more than 100ha.
At present, the resettlement area has 112 households granted productive land on the area of 116.2ha. Thach Khe in Tan Thinh hamlet, An Binh commune said that after being granted productive land, his family enjoys a comfortable life, thanks to planting rubber. His family will this year enjoy a warm Tet holiday”.
Meanwhile, Chau Thi Giau, a household in this resettlement area plants cashew and manioc. This year’s cashew crop brings her over VND20mil in profit, so her family will enjoy a warm Tet in this year.
The number of Khmer ethnic households in An Binh commune now has 225 families and 938 people. Earlier, the number of poor Khmer people in An Binh commune accounted for 42.5%. However, with the Party and State’s support policies during a long time, till the end of 2014, rate of poor families in this commune reduced at 8.14%.
Nguyen Thi Lan, vice secretary of An Binh commune party committee said that aside from enjoying support policies, local ethnic people’s consciousness has been changed positively. They no longer depend on the State’s support. They are aware of developing homebased economy and building a civilized and modern life. Therefore, in the recent years, Khmer ethnic people’s life in An Binh commune is improved significantly.
Binh Duong now has 20 minority ethnic households with more than 17,000 residents, accounting for 1% of provincial population. Of these, ethnic groups of Chinese, Khmer and more account for the most crowd quantity. Until now, the entire province has 114 ethnic party members, 16 of whom work at People’s Council at all levels and 956 others work at mass bodies and societies.
