Local Red Cross Society brings Spring to the poor

The provincial Red Cross Society in cooperation with the provincial Volunteers’ Club grant gifts to poor households in Iahala commune.

In order to help needy families, disabled people, dioxin victims enjoy a warm Tet holiday 2015, movement of Tet for the poor and dioxin victims is started officially. The first gifts were granted to poor families in need. On this occasion, Binh Duong Newspaper’s reporters had an interview with Tran Thi Lien, chairwoman of the provincial Red Cross Society about this movement.

Could you tell about purpose as well as significance of this movement?

To bring a warm Tet holiday for every one, especially poor people, right from the early year, the provincial Red Cross Society built the movement of “Tet for the poor and dioxin victims”. Firstly, we want to disseminate and widely mobilize all cadres, public servants and members and people to learn more this movement’s significance.

With the principle of solidarity, we will contribute to bring joys for the poor and dioxin victims during the coming Tet holiday.

How is the movement implemented, madam?

To grant gifts to people in need, the provincial Red Cross Society steered districts, towns and localities as well as Dau Tieng Rubber Company’s Red Cross society to grasp situation and demand of beneficiaries and set out concrete lists to mobilize sources from cadres, public servants, donors and members to help these beneficiaries on the mobilization of “Every organization, individual attaches to a humanitarian address”. 

Supportive form is very plentiful. The society at all levels can mobilize cadres, members, youths and volunteers to grant cash, rice, essential food, clothes and more to the poor; mobilize to support breedings and nurslings for production and breeding or cooperate with units, donors, agencies to offer health check-ups and medicines for the poor.

In this year, Binh Duong province is assigned to mobilize 28,000 Tet gift portions worth at least VND300,000 per portion to poor, privileged and sub-poor households, dioxin victims and needy cadres and members.

What do you think about the entrusted target?

This target is very feasible because the entre society mobilized 40,251 portions worth over VND12.2bil in the past year. Compared with the entrusted target, we reached 134%.

Besides, Tet gifts are granted not only to poor, disabled, privileged people but to needy others in Gia Lai, Binh Phuoc and Tya Ninh provinces.

At present, many gifts have been come to essential addresses, could you tell about this?

Starting this movement, the provincial Red Cross Society in cooperation with the Volunteers’ Club paid gift visits to poor people in Iahla commune, Chu Puh district, Gia Lai province. This is a twinned locality of the provincial Red Cross Society.

In this time, the provincial Red Cross Society granted 200 gifts worth VND600,000 per portion to the poor of the locality.

We have started the peak period of this movement from Jan. 10 to Feb. 10.
