Local sector of culture, sports and tourism makes efforts in tourism development

Binh Duong owns a lot of advantages for the local tourism development in terms of ecology, history, traditional craft villages…The province’s administration and people need to join hands in helping the local tourism sector reach sustainable development and actually become a spearheading sector in the local economic structure.

Potentials

Binh Duong is a land with natural advantages. It owns a lot of orchards laden with fruits in Lai Thieu and Tan Uyen, absorbing visitors near and far.

Apart from famous orchards, Binh Duong is well-known by Chau Thoi mountain-a national-level landscape, Dau Tieng reservoir together with many other landscapes. All are great potentials for the local ecotourism development.

There are also more than 50 national, provincial-level historical-cultural relics like Phu Loi Prison, “Tam giac sat” tunnel…. They are very attractive to tourists.

According to travel companies, traditional craft village tourism is also a highlight of Binh Duong’s tourism sector, but it has not been upheld yet. Binh Duong is very famous with traditional craft villages about lacquer, pottery…for a long time, but they are being fallen in oblivion.

The above-mentioned natural advantages plus achievements from people will be a chance for Binh Duong to promote the local tourism sector. But, the sector is still facing shortcomings for change.

Solving a tourism problem

So far, provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has set up a tourism promotion center in a bid to impulse the local tourism sector. The center is responsible for composing, publishing the province’s tourism maps and handbooks, establishing provincial tourism website at www.dulichbinhduong.org.vn; making propaganda of the local historical-cultural relics among Youth Union members; providing information about Binh Duong’s tourism at tourism fairs organized by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, localities…, thereby contributing to introducing Binh Duong’s image to tourists at home and abroad.

Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has also put forward measures to associate ecotourism with orchard development, stimulating domestic tourism. The Department has set up the Project on “Development of Binh Duong’s specific tourism products till 2015, orientations towards 2020”. And the Lai Thieu orchard area is seen as one of the province’s specific tourism products.

Besides, the Department has given advice to provincial People’s Committee in approving the Project on “Binh Duong’s tourism development till 2020, visions towards 2030”. This is a favorable condition for the local tourism sector to reach sustainable development and actually become a spearheading sector in the local economic structure.

In terms of historical tourism, provincial Relics and Landscape Management Board will continue coordinating with the local sector of education and training to organize tours to the local relics among pupils and students; create favorable conditions for organizations and individuals to feel comfortable when visiting the local relics; simultaneously restore the local relics to preserve their historical values, according board head Nguyen Van Thuy.

Binh Duong has also set up a new executive board of provincial Tourism Association with members full of competence and passion for the local tourism sector. This is seen as an impulse for Binh Duong’s tourism sector so that Binh Duong is not only well-known as a locality with robust development in industrial manufacture, but also in tourism in the next few years.
