Local socio-economic development further obtains stability

Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of provincial People’s Committee yesterday presided over a periodic meeting to approve a report on the local socio-economic performance, national defence-security in August, main tasks in September; a draft decision on promulgating working regulations of provincial People’s Committee and a draft decision on assigning tasks for members of the 9th provincial People’s Committee for the 2016-2021 tenure. Attending the meeting were Mai Hung Dung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee together with members of provincial People’s Committee.

High growth

Reportedly, provincial People’s Committee continued well implementing solutions, tasks in August, making the local socio-economic performance further reach stable development.

The province’s index of industrial production (IIP) in August surged 21.2% against last year’s same period. Over the past 8 months, the province’s IIP reached a growth of 8.85% over last year’s same period.

Besides, the province’s total retail sales of commodities and services in August reached more than VND11.55billion, up 0.6% compared to the previous month and 21.5% compared to last year’s same period. Thus, the value over the past 8 months was estimated at more than VND90.95billion, up 20.9% compared to last year’s same period.

For export industry, the province’s export value in August was more than US$1.83million. The value over the past 8 months was estimated at more than VND14.47million, a year-on-year increase of 16.1%.

Last month, the whole province also absorbed more than VND2.23billion in domestic capital. The figure brought the total amount of domestic capital flowing into the province over the past 8 months to nearly VND21.63trillion. Regarding FDI attraction, the province last month lured US$211.1million in FDI capital, bringing the total amount of FDI capital here over the past 8 months to more than US$1.45billion.

The province’s State budget collection last month was VND2.9trillion. Over the past 8 months, the figure was estimated at VND26.5billion, a year-on-year rise of 11%.

In addition, the province focused on rechecking and hastening disbursement of public investment capital under the Government’s Resolution No.60/NQ-CP dated July 8, 2016. Upon this, the province’s total value of basic construction volume granted investment capital last month was more than VND2.38trillion or 37.1% of the plan… But, according to Pham Danh, Director of provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the province’s disbursement of public investment capital has still face shortcomings for change.

For socio-cultural fields, the province continued well realizing a task of taking care of social policy beneficiaries. Over the past 8 months, authorities at all levels and sectors of the province concentrated on making activities on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day; donated gifts, houses of compassion, saving books to 44,858 policy beneficiaries with a total expense of approximately VND19billion…

Also during the period, the province reviewed the 2015-2016 academic year and extended orientations, tasks for the 2016-2017 academic year; continued well maintaining political security and national defence.

Focusing on fulfilling urban targets

Nguyen Thanh Tai, Director of provincial Department of Construction said that as of June 2016, the province reached 77 out of 100 points of the Program on urban development towards civilization and prosperity, improving the quality of people’s life.

Under the program, the province will strive to become a centrally-controlled municipality by 2020. Di An town will reach criteria of a third-class city in 2017. Tan Uyen town is also expected to become a third-class city in 2018, but the town needs to bend on connecting infrastructure systems, boosting waste treatment systems…

Also in terms of urban development, according to some other ideas at the meeting, the province needs to suggest the central administration to clarify a text recognizing a target of Binh Duong being to become a centrally-controlled municipality. For medium-term investment plan, TDM is defined as a main city under the Resolution of the local urban development.

Concluding the meeting, Mr.Liem suggested authorities at all levels and sectors of the province to keep a close watch on the activities of businesses, industries’ associations to help remove their difficulties; further organize dialogues with businesses; bend on realizing solutions to hasten disbursement of capital for basic construction investment; ensure policies on social welfare, especially for policy beneficiaries and poor people; further strengthen administrative reform…Provincial Department of Construction was also ordered to recheck targets on urban development and soon report them to provincial Party Standing Committee.

In September, provincial People’s Committee will put focus on carrying out some main tasks, including further realizing solutions to promote disbursement of public investment capital; opening the My Phuoc-Tan Van expressway; implementing policies on social welfare in a synchronous and effective way…
