Local temperature is likely to reach 39°C during prolonged hot heat wave

Update: 12-04-2024 | 11:45:06

In the first months of 2024, heat waves have begun appearing locally in some areas of the province. The average temperature across the province is 2.0°C - 3.0 °C higher than the average for many years, with the highest temperature of 36.3 °C.

According to provincial Hydrometeorological Station, the atmosphere and ocean are currently in El Nino conditions. In 2024, due to the influence of El Nino, the heat wave will start earlier than the average level and end later, with the heat period lasting longer than the average level. Humidity is very low, so the weather is very hot and uncomfortable. The average number of hot days and highest temperature in the dry season months is higher than the average level.

It is forecast that in April and May 2024, El Nino will further maintain with the probability of over 90%. Heat tends to expand and increase in intensity during this period and gradually decrease from the second half of May 2024. In April 2024, intense heat on large scale occurred for long days. The highest temperature is forecast to reach 38°C-39°C, higher than the level of 2023. Since late April, the province may see seasonal rains and the drought situation will be gradually improved.

The prolonged hot and dry heat wave is likely to cause the shortage of water for production while also increasing the risk of explosions and fires.
