Logistics sector promoted

For the logistics sector fully developing its potential and strong points, Binh Duong is trying to implement many solutions. Specifically, the province focuses on investing in vital traffic routes, upgrading inland waterway ports, railways, warehouse systems..., being capable of connecting with seaports, river ports, railway stations and international airports in the region to ensure the smooth movement of goods and logistics activities, reducing costs for enterprises.

Effective exploitation

In order to serve the transportation of the logistics system by waterway from the province's interior area to Cai Mep deep sea port in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and Cat Lai port in Ho Chi Minh city, provincial People's Committee has approved the An Tay river port project with 100 hectares in total area, total investment capital of nearly VND2.3trillion. Once being completed, the port will create a closed logistics service area to effectively use the local multi-modal transport infrastructure system, reduce costs and promote industrial production in the locality as well as in the Southeastern region.

Along with that, taking advantage of the favorable geographical location of Song Than station, located on National Highway 1A, right in the center of Song Than Industrial Park, with good connectivity to localities in the Mekong Delta and Southeastern regions, Vo Van Minh, Chairman of provincial People's Committee requested functional agencies to quickly complete space and security requirements, coordinate with the railway sector to soon deploy this mode of transport right after leaders of Vietnam Railway Corporation had proposed to deploy international intermodal operations at Song Than station.

Recently, relevant sides have held a launching ceremony for an international intermodal train transporting export goods from Song Than station to China. In the planning of Binh Duong province, Song Than international intermodal station will become a large-scale logistics center of the southern region, opening up a new, more efficient and safer method of transporting exported and imported goods, easily accessing to China and third countries’ industrial centers producing goods, auxiliary materials...

Dang Sy Manh, CEO of Vietnam Railway Corporation said that international intermodal operations at Song Than station will open up great opportunities for transport enterprises in exploiting and transporting goods. With the determination in direction and management of Binh Duong province's leaders plus a favorable position, the province's traffic infrastructure has been developed relatively synchronously and modernly, connecting modes between air, sea, road, and rail transport.... It is believed that Song Than station will become a logistics center of Binh Duong and the whole Southern region.

Upholding advantages

Binh Duong is currently one of the most dynamically developing localities in the southern region and the whole country with the formation and development of 33 industrial parks and 12 industrial compounds in association with attracting enterprises, especially FDI ones. The total import-export turnover of enterprises in Binh Duong province has now risen to 3rd place in the country. The advantage has created conditions for Binh Duong's logistics service enterprises to develop quickly in both quantity and quality. The system of warehouses, yards and means of transportation is continuously being newly invested, expanded, and upgraded, basically meeting the requirements of domestic and foreign goods circulation of enterprises in the province.

At the recent inauguration ceremony of FM Logistics Distribution Center at VSIP 2A, Hamza Harti, CEO of FM Logistics Vietnam said that Binh Duong is one of the fastest growing industrial and manufacturing centers in Viet Nam. With many industrial parks and production zones, Binh Duong has been an ideal location to become a modern, large-scale distribution center that can participate in the industrial ecosystem. Many industrial compounds in terms of electronics, garment-textile and consumer goods are concentrated in this area, which is an attractive advantage for opportunities to synergy and cooperation between enterprises.

According to foreign investors, when shifting investment, they always consider and calculate whether the new location will change their supply chain too much. The logistics system for transporting manufactured goods requires cost optimization on the export route. Nguyen Van Danh, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee said that understanding this, Binh Duong has been making good use of the advantages of the local favorable position, investing in building up a synchronous and modern traffic infrastructure system plus the rapid development of industry and trade - services, which has created a strong driving force for the local logistics development.

Binh Duong is determined to soon complete the belt roads 3, 4 passing through it; upgrade and expand National Highway 13, roads connecting Binh Duong with Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai; direct integration into intra-provincial main roads connecting towards seaports and international airports; upgrade and expand Song Than station, forming up a system of An Son, An Tay and An Dien ports; upgrade Binh Duong port at international border container port standards...These works will create a highly connected traffic system with provinces and cities in the southern key economic region.
