Maintaining and upholding qualities, traditions of "Uncle Ho's soldiers"

Yesterday (October 7), the 7th provincial Veterans Association Congress for the 2022-2027 tenure took place at provincial Convention and Exhibition Center. The event was attended by Nguyen Minh Triet, former Politburo member, former State President; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong, Vice-Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association; Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Pham Van Chanh, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Council; Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Mass Mobilization, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Truong Thi Bich Hanh, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Education together with representatives of leaders of the Military Zone 7, former leaders of Song Be - Binh Duong province over periods and nearly 200 delegates representing members of provincial Veterans Association.

The congress made a brief report on the assessment of the results of the implementation of the tasks for the 2017-2022 tenure, orientations and tasks for the 2022-2027 tenure. Accordingly, over the past 5 years, under the regular and close leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels, the coordination and assistance of local departments, agencies and mass organizations; the direction of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association and the guidance of the central agencies of the Association, all cadres and members of provincial Veterans Association made great efforts in overcoming difficulties, actively participating in Covid-19 prevention and control while successfully realizing the targets and tasks set out in the Resolution of the 6th provincial Veterans Congress.

Delegates at the 7th provincial Veterans Congress for the 2022-2027 tenure

In the new tenure, provincial Veterans Association will continue upholding the qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", the tradition of "Loyalty - Solidarity - Exemplarity - Innovation"; building up a strong and comprehensive association; excellently completing all tasks. The association will also strive to have 100% of its members to be steadfast in politics and ideology; strive to increase the proportion of cadres and members participating in the work of the Party, government, Fatherland Front, mass organizations at grassroots level, quarters and hamlets by over 20% of total number of members; develop over 85% of eligible subjects for admission to the association; strive to have 100% of the association's staff trained under decentralization...

Speaking at the congress, Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee affirmed: During the last tenure, provincial Veterans Associations at all levels united and strived to overcome difficulties, fulfilling the tasks and targets set out by the Resolution of the 6th provincial Veterans Congress, bringing practical effects, positively contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense - security and building up a strong political system of the province. The achievements of the Veterans Association at all levels over the past time continued affirming its position and role as a reliable support for Party committees and authorities at all levels. Many officials and members of the association set good examples, always maintaining and upholding the good qualities and traditions of "Uncle Ho's soldiers".

Mr. Minh also expressed his wish that provincial Veterans Associations at all levels will strengthen the work of political and ideological education. In setting up operational programs and plans of activities, they need to be associated with promoting socio-economic development tasks, programs and strengthening national defense and security in the locality. In addition, they should encourage members to continue effectively contributing to educating revolutionary traditions and imparting experience to young generations by their own enthusiasm and experience while regularly taking care of, consolidating and building their organizations at all levels with strong and comprehensive development in terms of politics, ideology, organization and action, innovating operational contents and forms...

At the congress, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hong Huong, Vice- Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association also shared: Binh Duong is an important area connecting the provinces and cities of the Southern Key Economic Region, the modern urban and industrial hub. Therefore, with their responsibilities, provincial Veterans Associations at all levels must clearly show their role and position as a reliable political force, protecting and building the Party, government and socialist regime, contributing to maintaining political stability, creating a favorable environment for the successful implementation of the national industrialization and modernization; strive to build up Binh Duong province with sustainable development towards a smart, civilized and modern city...

The Congress elected 21 delegates to the Executive Committee of the 7th provincial Veterans Association for the 2022-2027 tenure and elected 5 delegates to attend the 7th national Veterans Congress for the 2022-2027 tenure. At the first session, the Executive Committee of the 7th provincial Veterans Association elected the Standing Committee and the titles of President, Vice President, Head of the Inspection Committee of the association for the new tenure; took confidence votes in order to introduce candidates to the Executive Committee of the 7th Vietnam Veterans Association for the 2022-2027 tenure. Major General Tran Huu Tai, Chairman of the 6th provincial Veterans Association was re-elected as Chairman of the 7th provincial Veterans Association for the 2022-2027 tenure.

*Nguyen Truong Giang (Chairman of the Veterans Association branch of Tan Hung commune in Bau Bang district): “I hope the new Executive Board of provincial Veterans Association will continue upholding achieved results, promoting the work of the association and the veterans’ movements in the province. I hope that the new Executive Board will pay attention to coordination in revolutionary traditional education among young people, actively contributing to building emulation movements, joining hands in building civilized urban and new-style rural areas …”.

*Nguyen Duc Chung (Chairman of Ben Cat town’s Veterans Association branch): “I personally hope that the new Executive Board of provincial Veterans Association will be concentric, synergistic, flexible and creative to put forward breakthrough solutions, successfully completing the main targets and tasks set out by the resolution of the congress. Hopefully, the new Executive Board will have a concrete, solid roadmap and direction for higher results than the previous tenure..."

*Nguyen Chinh Hai (Chairman of provincial Veteran Business Association): “I hope that the new Executive Board of provincial Veterans Association will be the link between traditional and modern values, inheriting done achievements for innovation and creativity in the local socio-economic with a positive transformation.
