Update: 19-05-2021 | 12:20:31

Security Investigation Agency of Provincial Police has issued a decision to prosecute the accused Tran Danh Tuong (24 years old, from Binh Thuan province) for the act of "Organizing illegal stay in Vietnam".

According to the investigation, on April 15, through acquaintances on social networks, Tuong drove a car to An Suong intersection (District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) to pick up 3 persons having Chinese nationality to his house in Quarter 4, Tuong Binh Hiep Ward, Thu Dau Mot City and stayed here. Although he knew these three people illegally entering Vietnam, Tuong arranged for them to live in his house and prepare daily meals for them.

On April 19, police of Tuong Binh Hiep ward conducted an administrative inspection of Tuong's house and discovered three Chinese people without identification documents. The functional forces took these three people to quarantine in accordance with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.

As working with the police, Tuong confessed that he had agreed the suggestion of an unknown man on social network to pick up and provide accommodation for 3 Chinese people for 3 days and would be paid VND 2 million/day. In order not to be suspected by his neighbors, Tuong told the three Chinese people to stay upstairs only. Tuong provided meals and drinking water directly for these people every day.

According to the investigation result, Tuong knew that it was illegal to let 3 Chinese nationals enter his home, but due to fear of quarantine and not being paid, Tuong did not report these people to the police.

The authorities deported the 3 Chinese people who entered the country illegally in accordance with the law.
