Manpower training, house building for workers – basic premises for local sustainable development

Manpower training focused

Binh Duong now has over 13,000 local and foreign businesses. The rapid growth of the figure has lured numerous laborers nationwide to work at the locality. The entire province now has about 720,000 laborers. To meet demand on investment attraction and human resources supply for businesses, the locality has paid attention to vocational training.  a production line at Showa Gloves Vietnam Co.Ltd.

In the 2006-2010 period, the province trained over 88,000 learners, nearly 90% of whom enjoyed jobs after training courses. However, the rate remains low compared to the rising requirements. To ensure sustainable industrial development for the coming years, Binh Duong has focused on manpower training. Therefore, the locality now has 41 vocational training facilities.

To improve its manpower quality, the province has built and cooperated with other localities to develop educational projects. The province has so far had nearly 10 universities, 6 colleges and some key educational projects underway including Eastern International University, Thu Dau Mot University, Viet Duc University…

Houses for workers paid attention

Among 720,000 laborers, the locality has over 602,000 immigrant workers and 90% of them are in need of accommodation. Solving social welfare, education, healthcare for laborers are key tasks that the province has executed over years.

Many businesses have realized the importance of manpower stability and quality, so they have invested and built free boarding houses and welfare works for workers. Therefore, 260 businesses have involved in building houses for laborers. They include Binh Duong Garment One-member Co. Ltd, Truong Thanh Furniture Group, Thai Binh Shoes, Phuoc Du Co.Ltd., TaTung Vietnam Co.Ltd, Kondo Textile Co.Ltd, CF Vina Co.Ltd and so on.

In addition, the locality has encouraged economic sectors to build houses for workers and low-incomers. The entire province now has 18,522 lodging houses, offering accommodation for over 500,000 people. However, most the boarding houses are poor in quality, order and hygiene.

To stabilize manpower, the province has launched a plan on house building for workers. Accordingly, 104 tenements have been built at Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An, Di An towns, Ben Cat and Tan Uyen districts with the total capital of nearly 12,000bil.

Moreover, the province has paid attention to building public works such as parks, hospitals, schools… to cater for laborers. The attention will be an important driving force to contribute to local rapid and sustainable development.
