Many activities in response to Vietnam Law Day

2022 is the 10th year of organizing activities to respond to Vietnam Law Day (November 9). Since early November, departments, sectors and localities have organized many activities in response to the event with various and practical forms in line with actual conditions.

Law dissemination promoted

Vietnam Law Day is widely celebrated in order to honor the Constitution, the law and educate everyone on the sense of respect for the Constitution and the law, contributing to building a way of living and working in accordance with the Constitution, the law and raising each person’s awareness of the law, creating the habit of voluntarily implementing and behaving under the law, thereby building up legal culture in the whole society.

Provincial Department of Justice has advised provincial People's Committee on issuing documents on the implementation of law dissemination and reconciliation at the grassroots level, including orientation and direction to organize the implementation of many activities related to Vietnam Law Day. Nguyen Anh Hoa, Director of provincial Department of Justice, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial Council for Coordination of Legal Education and Dissemination said that activities in response to Vietnam Law Day this year still focus on propagandizing and implementing many activities at grassroots level, helping law dissemination achieve high efficiency. Propaganda will be enhanced in the mass media, communication through telecommunications and social networks as well as legal contests, policy dialogues, and programs on direct legal consultancy in various forms. Law dissemination also aims at raising citizens, officials and civil servants ‘responsibility and obligations in law enforcement. This year, provincial Council for Coordination of Legal Education and Dissemination also summarized 10 years of implementation of the Law on Legal Dissemination and Education, thereby building and replicating new, good and effective models in law dissemination and education, strengthening the application of information technology in law dissemination and education," said Mrs. Hoa.

Many grassroots activities

As part of a series of activities in response to Vietnam Law Day, on the morning of November 8, Di An city’s People's Committee held a conference to review a project on "Improving the capacity of mediators at the grassroots level" for the period of 2019- 2022. Up to now, the city has had 41 grassroots mediation groups with 313 mediators. Mediators are not only reputable in the community, but also have legal knowledge and dedication to grassroots mediation. As a result, they promptly detected disputes, helping the sides to reconcile and resolve conflicts from beginning, contributing to stabilizing the local security and order situation. From January 2019 to September 2022, grassroots mediation teams in Di An City received and reconciled 719 cases, thereby conciliating 644 cases or 89.6% of total. Meanwhile, on the occasion of Vietnam Law Day, Tan Uyen town’s Women's Union has coordinated with relevant units to disseminate legal documents directly relating to women and children such as the Law on Marriage Family - Family, domestic violence prevention. Besides, the local Women’s Union has mobilized and created conditions for women, especially disadvantaged ones, to develop their economy, reintegrate into the community, stabilize their lives; maintained and strengthened existing models, namely “Trusted Address”, “Women's Club with Law, “Law Book Basket”...

It is known that over the past days, departments, sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities in the province implemented many practical and appropriate activities in response to Vietnam Law Day. Huynh Thi Thuy Phuong, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial Women's Union said that this year, activities in response to Vietnam Law Day have been organized by Women’s Union associations at all levels from November 1 to 30. Provincial Women’s Union also organizes the Action Month for Gender Equality with the highlight being the prevention, response to gender-based violence. This activity creates a communication campaign for gender equality, prevention and response to gender-based violence in the whole province. These activities aim at attracting attention, highlighting the roles, responsibilities and proactiveness of individuals, families and community in ensuring social welfare, promoting gender equality, preventing violence and abuse of women and children.

Also on this occasion, provincial Farmers' Association organized a contest on "Farmers with environmental protection". Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a contest on "Learning about administrative reform and legal regulations"... The activities contributed to enriching the local law dissemination. According to Nguyen Thanh Phong, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the contest contributed to raising civil servants’ awareness of the observance of the Constitution and laws and improving their legal knowledge, helping professional tasks get better and better.

“Vietnam Law Day, November 9 is also an opportunity to re-evaluate results done, shortcomings in law-making work, law enforcement organization, law dissemination and education; set out orientations in the coming time; honor and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in this work”, shared Nguyen Anh Hoa, Director of provincial Department of Justice.
According to a report of provincial Department of Justice, over the past 10 years, all-level authorities and sectors in the province have synchronously and effectively implemented documents guiding the implementation of the Law on Law Dissemination-Education and achieved high results. The whole province held hundreds of thousands of propaganda conferences with more than 13 million attendees. Besides, they also directly participated in disseminating many legal and sub-law documents to cadres, civil servants and people with the criteria of sticking to the requirements and political tasks of each field and locality, being suitable to each targeted group and area, meeting the requirements of bringing the law to life
