On August 2, Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee held a press conference to inform the socio-economic situation over the first six months of 2024. Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Provincial Party Standing Member, Head of the Provincial Party Propagation and Education Committee; Vo Anh Tuan, Office Chief of the Provincial People's Committee; and Le Huu Phuoc, Chairman of the Provincial Journalists Association, co-chaired the press conference.
Vo Anh Tuan, Office Chief of the Provincial People's Committee, said that despite mixed advantages and difficulties, the province's socio-economic situation gained satisfactory results in most areas during the first six months of 2024. Notably, gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 6.19% over the same period in 2023, of which industry and construction increased by 5.81%, services increased by 7.36%, and agriculture, forestry, and fisheries increased by 3.29%. In the field of industrial production, many enterprises have signed new production orders with large volumes. Some businesses have signed production contracts extending until the end of 2024 and into 2025. Therefore, many companies recruited more workers in large numbers.
At the press conference, representatives of departments and branches clarified many issues raised by reporters from central and local press agencies. Some hot topics were social security, employment and workers’ lives, the lack of medicine and medical supplies, businesses owing salaries, and social insurance of workers, security and order issues, issuance of citizen identification cards, planning, social housing.
At the end of the press conference, Hanh expressed her wish that press agencies continue to pay attention, report from different angles, and accompany the development of the province.
