Mooncake market becomes heated up since early lunar July. This year, prices of mooncake surge about 10-15% from previous years owing to the product’s investment in quality and design.  

Even though the Mid-Autumn Festival is still one month away, mooncakes in a variety of forms and flavours have already been displayed by shops.

This year’s mooncakes are particularly diverse in design and quality. Most of the products have beautiful and luxurious packaging. Mooncakes in a variety of forms and flavours have already been launched by major brands such as Kinh Do, Dong Khanh, Bibica, Hy Lam Mon, Duc Phat, Nhu Lan and so on.

Recent years, customers have paid much attention to quality and design of this product. Businesses like Kinh Do have launched new products onto the market.

Many agents said that more than 70% of customers use the product as gifts, so they usually choose products with beautiful and luxurious packaging.

Mooncake price up

ABC Bakery’s most hi-grade products price at VND80,000-VND122,000 per piece. Besides, the company has launched hi-grade nutritious products pricing at VND160,000-VND784,000 for 700g-3kg pieces.

This year’s mooncake market shows products with beautiful and luxurious packaging. Thanh, the owner of mooncake shop at Dinh market, said most of clients buy 1-2 cakes for taste then they decide to buy them as gifts.

The companies have also raised their prices by 5-15 percent, due to the rising prices of their ingredients.

Companies are also offering innovative cakes with less sugar and a wide variety of fillings and lowness in calories making them suitable for the elderly or people on special diets.

Minh Hanh, a customer, said she often buy the product to present to her relatives. Though mooncake in this year is higher than previous years, diversity in design and quality brings customers more choices.
