The local authorities, departments and sectors have further promoted activities to care for policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors through practical activities such as building houses, creating capital for production, creating jobs...Especially, they have paid special importance to visiting, offering gifts and caring for the spiritual life of the targeted subjects during Tet and great holidays.
Taking care of revolutionary contributors ‘families
The work of taking care of policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors is always given special attention by Party committees, local authorities and units in the province, especially during Tet and great holidays. Nguyen Ngoc Hang, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) shared: "Every major holiday or Tet, provincial DoLISA advises provincial leaders on setting up delegations to visit heroic Vietnamese mothers, revolutionary contributors’families. These activities also have great spiritual significance, demonstrating the moral principal of “when drinking water, remember its source”, memorizing the great contributions of families who have contributed to the country".
The work of building and repairing houses for poor households is promoted by localities in 2023
On Tet and great holidays, provincial DoLISA coordinates with departments, sectors and localities to give tens of billions of dong in gifts to policy beneficiary families. In 2023, the department has coordinated with relevant units to organize the construction and repair of 30 gratitude houses for families of people with meritorious services to the revolution, with a total cost of more than VND 2 billion. Particularly, there were 10 apartments built, with a total cost of more than VND 1.07 trillion; 20 houses upgraded, with a total cost of more than VND 930 million. Provincial DoLISA also donated 60 savings books with a total amount of VND 85 million to targeted people...
Along with that, provincial DoLISA has always coordinated with localities in vocational training, job creation and capital support for children of policy beneficiary families, helping them stabilize their economic conditions. Upon this, the local policy beneficiary families have always had a quite high average annual income. Le Thi Ton, martyr's wife, living in Di An city’s Tan Dong Hiep ward shared: "The work of taking care of people with meritorious services and children of policy beneficiary families over the past time was very thoughtful. For example, although the level 4 house that was built with local support many years ago is still good, on the last holiday of July 27, the locality was proactive to put forward a plan to rebuild it. I was very touched. Every Tet, my family receives gifts and regards very warmly".
Periodic health care, travel and vacation policies for revolutionary contributors are always guaranteed by the province, thereby taking good care of the local revolutionary contributors ‘material and spiritual lives.
Caring for poor households ‘lives
Along with taking good care of policy beneficiary families and revolutionary contributors, the province has also paid special attention to disadvantaged poor households and workers. By the end of 2023, the whole province is expected to have about 5,600 poor households, accounting for 1.41% of total, including 2,021 poor households under central standards and 3,579 ones under provincial standards. The total number of near-poor households in the province is 1,760 households, accounting for 0.44% of total.
To take care of the lives of poor households, provincial DoLISA has coordinated with departments, sectors and localities to effectively implement policies on poverty reduction such as preferential loans, educational support, medical support and housing; vocational training policies, job creation, electricity support... Accordingly, the Bank for Social Policies has coordinated with socio-political organizations to provide disadvantaged households with preferential loans. In 2023, units have disbursed more than VND 43 billion.
During the year, provincial Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have coordinated with districts, towns and cities to mobilize organizations and individuals to build 82 new houses and repair 13 “great unity” houses worth over VND 7.7 billion for the poor; build 6 “Red Cross” houses worth VND 400 million, 6 charity houses worth VND 280 million. To take care of health and reduce the financial burden for disadvantaged households, districts, towns and cities have coordinated with relevant units to issue 18,156 health insurance cards with a total cost of more than VND 11.83 billion. In addition, localities issued 353 health insurance cards worth VND 182 million to households with average living standards.
According to Trinh Duc Tai, Director of provincial DoLISA, the work of taking care of poor children has also received special attention from all-level authorities. In 2023, provincial Department of Education and Training has directed and coordinated with the Divisions of Education and Training, the Divisions of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and schools in the province to exempt or reduce tuition fees and support learning costs and lunch for 2,815 students from poor and near-poor households with a total cost of over VND 2.4 billion; coordinated with businesses to award more than VND 1 billion in scholarships while awarding 180 scholarships worth VND 2 million each, 135 bicycles, 1 laptop with a total value of VND 852 million to students under the “Giving strength to school” program.
