Myriad resources mobilized to support the blind

Over the past time, all levels of the Association of the Blind in the province have taken advantage of all resources in society to care and create conditions to support the blind in studying, working and rising in life. Based on the support, blind people have overcome their inferiority complex to become more confident, and strive to have a better and better life.

To promote the spirit of able

Despite his young age, Bui Van Canh is already Deputy Chairman of the Association of the Blind in Bau Bang district. To get the results like today, Canh himself overcame his illness and made great efforts to rise up. Sharing about his situation, Canh said that since he was unable to see the light since birth. Therefore, every activity in his life encountered many difficulties. With love and encouragement, help and care from his family and loved ones along with his own efforts, he has gradually affirmed his strength to rise up.

After joining the Association of the Blind, Canh was helped to study rehabilitation at the provincial Association of the Blind to learn braille, music, computer science and necessary orientation skills for the blind. He said, thanks to studying, he had more confidence and lived more positively. Besides being able to participate in studying and working, Canh himself is also cared for by associations and localities such as receiving monthly social allowances, being granted free health insurance cards, receiving gifts on every occasion and holidays.

“It is this concern that gives me practical material and spiritual support, encouraging me to keep trying harder to have a better life. I will continue to make efforts to study, work well, constantly learn, practice, and cultivate my own morality, and contribute to taking good care of the lives of the blind in the district along with the local authority to realize the goal as encouraged by President Ho Chi Minh," Canh said.

Many blind people in the province have recently been supported to rise up in many different forms. Le Hoang Phong, Chairman of the Blind Association of Ben Cat town, said that 68 blind people in the town including 62 members have been with the motto of "understanding the circumstances and aspirations of each member" over the years, and the Executive Board and staff of the Town's Blind Association have actively grasped the situation of member's life for appropriate care.

Specifically, the Blind Association of Ben Cat town enlisted organizations and benefactors to give more than 3,500 gifts to the blind with a total value of more than VND 1,244 billion and USD 200; resources in society is mobilized to give 21,374 gifts to the blind with a total value of more than VND 5.6 billion on Tet holidays. Besides, the association is also interested in promoting vocational training and job creation for members. Supportive resources have contributed to reducing the poor blind households in the area from 8.91% in 2008 to 2.94% in 2023.

To practically assist the blind

The caring and caring activities carried out in the past time have actively contributed to improving the lives of members and the blind in the province. In particular, the implementation of the project "Strengthening solidarity, proactively rising up, equality and community integration" for 2008-2023, the Blind Association at all levels in the province has organized many effective activities, bringing legitimate and practical benefits, improving the quality of life both mentally and physically, helping the blind to move on their own, gain confidence, and integrate into the social community. Up to now, 100% of the full-time staff of the association have undergone professional training courses organized by the Central Committee of the Association, meeting the requirements of assigned tasks.

In order to implement the project effectively, the association also pays attention to well implementing the program on employment, vocational training, and life care for the blind. In the past 15 years, associations at all levels have set up 287 projects, coordinated with the Bank for Social Policies to lend 2,173 turns of the blind, with a total revolving capital of more than VND 20.188 billion. Timely loans has helped blind people and their families have conditions to invest in family economic development, and create jobs, increase income and improve living standards. In addition, the provincial Association of the Blind also sent 85 blind people to participate in massage training courses, 45 apprentices to make brooms. The association's toothpick, broom, and massage facilities have created jobs for many blind people in the province.

In order to take care of the blind, along with well implementing the State's social security policy, the provincial Blind Association also cooperates with departments, mass organizations at all levels to mobilize organizations and individuals to contribute to the construction of the blind, newly acquired 80 houses of great solidarity and repaired 23 houses for the blind for a total amount of VND 2.499 billion; 124,973 gifts have been mobilized to care for the blind on holidays at a total value of VND 43.8 billion.

Evaluating the results of the project of "Strengthening solidarity, proactively rising up, equality and community integration" in the past time, Tran Van Em, Chairman of the provincial Association of the Blind said, this is a topic The project has humanistic significance and value in the practice of association activities. With many movements and rich content, the project is spreading more and more widely, the role of the association and awareness of the blind in the province has also been raised. Officials and members are united, dynamic, proactively overcome difficulties to rise up in study, labor, doing business, studying culture, participating in cultural movements. Up to now, basically no blind people are with difficulties of housing, but eligible at working age for vocational training.
