National boxing tourney opens in Lao Cai

Nearly 220 boxers from 25 delegations across the country are testing their skills at the 2012 National Boxing Championships, which began in the northern province of Lao Cai on April 13.

 Both male and female boxers will compete in all weight categories.

This year’s event attracted many strong competitors from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and the police and army teams. The competition aims to create an opportunity for local boxers to improve their skills and gain more experience in preparation for regional and international tournaments.

The ongoing championships will last until April 22.
