National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control works with Binh Duong

Early August 3, Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee received a delegation of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue, led by Duong Duc Thien, Deputy Head of the Department of Planning and Finance, Chief of the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue under the Ministry of Health.

The delegation conducted a field inspection of 3 works in Thuan An city, including: Binh Hoa drainage canal system, An Son embankment system and Binh Nham tidal control sluice system. Once being completed, these works will solve regional flooding, ensuring circulation, developing regional traffic, facilitating water drainage and stabilizing production and business activities, thereby contributing to the completion and synchronization of water drainage infrastructure in Thuan An city in particular and Binh Duong province in general.

At the meeting, Thuan An city raised a number of difficulties in natural disaster prevention and control, search and rescue while proposing a number of contents, such as: The province needs to pay more attention to investment in upgrading and strengthening the system of embankment surrounding Saigon river; there is a more reasonable solution for water drainage because of the water drainage system of Binh Hoa canal to ensure no flooding when it rains heavily...

Mr.Thien acknowledged and highly appreciated the local preparation and proactiveness in natural disaster prevention-control, search and rescue over the past time. However, the province also needs to further review and adjust natural disaster prevention-control closely to the local real situation; organize training on human resources for better natural disaster prevention and control; concentrate resources to have a map of dyke planning; make planning for flood prevention and control of Saigon and Dong Nai rivers; realize natural disaster prevention planning in the Southeastern region in order to have a plan to build and develop the local embankment system with decentralization...

Mr.Dung suggested members of the provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention-Control, Search and Rescue to get the opinions of Thuan An city and the delegation to have specific orientations and solutions in the coming time.
