North Tan Uyen’s new rural construction gets thriving

Strong investment in infrastructure

Thai Thanh Binh, Chairman of North Tan Uyen district’s People’s Committee said that new rural construction is defined as an important program, contributing to changing the local image and improving the quality of locals’ quality. Hence, the district’s Party Committee and People’s Committee opportunely issued documents guiding the implementation of the program over the past time. Along with the State’s investment, the district also mobilized all resources among people to upgrade rural roads, make installation of lights in hamlets, alleys…All 10 communes of the district have so far reached the program’s criteria on healthcare and school. There are now 100% of the local people in use of the national power grid and with houses meeting standards of the Ministry of Construction; 99% of the local households in use of clean water. The average income per capital of the local people in 2016 reached nearly VND50million…

Pham Ngoc Uy, Chairman of Dat Cuoc communal People’s Committee affirmed that the new rural construction program has quickly changed the image of the commune. Noticeably, the average income per capital of the local people in 2016 reached VND55.3million. The commune also basically fulfilled all 19 criteria of the program and is making procedures in order to be recognized as a new rural commune by the end of 2017.

Attaching special importance to effective models

Implementing the National Target on New Rural Construction, along with infrastructure investment, North Tan Uyen district has always given priority to developing production models, increasing incomes for locals. Upon this, over the past years, the district created favorable conditions for economic organizations to foster farms on cultivation, animal husbandry and hi-tech agricultural models…, helping locals stabilize their lives.

The district is home to 12 effective cooperatives with a total chartered capital of nearly VND145billion, absorbing more than 100 members. Especially, the district has to date  formed up a specialized area on growing citrus fruits with around 2,000 hectares in total, the average productivity of 36.4 tons per hectare per year and the average production value of more than VND500million per hectare per year. Noticeably, the “North Tan Uyen orange” and “North Tan Uyen pomelo” trademarks were also granted the certification of collective trademark by the Department of Intellectual Property and the Ministry of Science and Technology, contributing to promoting the local citrus fruit trees.

Nguyen Van Thuan, Head of North Tan Uyen district’s Division of Economics said that provincial People’s Committee has carried out many support programs, especially ones on developing citrus fruit trees for farmers in the district. This has contributed to helping the local models on planting citrus fruit trees gain hi-economic efficiency and improving the lives of locals.

Under the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, the district has also always paid attention to targets ensuring social welfare, in which educational task is seen a top factor, creating all resources for new rural construction. Since early this year, the district has held 7 classes on growing safe vegetables and grapefruits under Vietgap standards, how to tap rubber latex…for farmers, thereby contributing to increasing the rate of laborers trained.

With the above efforts, the district has till now had 7 communes recognized as new rural ones. The remaining 3 communes has also fulfilled all 19 criteria of the program and is making procedures in order to be recognized as new rural ones by the end of 2017.

In a bid to maintain and step by step improve the quality of criteria of the program in new rural communes, the district is making efforts to realize socio-economic development, aiming to enhancing the spiritual and material lives of locals. Particularly, the district has attached special importance to calling for businesses to make investment in developing agricultural production and rural areas, creating more jobs for locals while strengthening socialization of building rural trade infrastructure facilities, recreational areas, sports centers…
