The Provincial People's Committee has made a decision on ranking Binh Nham communal house in Lai Thieu ward (Thuan An city) as provincial-level historical - cultural relic.
Binh Nham communal house is a communal house with a long history of over 150 years. According to archives of the Provincial Museum, it is not clear about the time when exactly the communal house was built. On November 29th 1853, King Tu Duc conferred a title on this communal house. The communal house includes: main hall, east hall, west hall and surrounding kitchen. In 1934, Binh Nham communal house was burned down by the French invaders. In 1972, local people joined hands to rebuild its main hall on the old ground and look like it is today.
This is a communal house of special value in terms of architecture and art, showing the cultural exchange between Vietnam and China, bearing fine art imprints of the land specializing in ceramic production. Although it has been greatly affected by war and weather, the communal house exudes an ancient beauty. The communal house is the place to preserve and maintain activities in the spiritual and cultural life of people and land here.
