Opportunely removing difficulties, facilitate social housing development

On March 6, at Hanoi point, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online conference with leaders of 63 provinces and cities across the country on removing difficulties and obstacles and promoting the development of social housing. At Binh Duong province point, there were Mr. Bui Minh Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, Chairman of Becamex IDC Corporation; and representatives of leaders of departments and branches.

In his opening speech, the Prime Minister encouraged delegates to be honest and direct; urged them to clearly identify problems and challenges associated with each issue, while also contributing ideas and proposing solutions to effectively address these challenges. The goal is to accelerate the development of social housing to better serve the people.

According to reports from the Ministry of Construction, from 2021 to the present, a total of 655 social housing projects have been implemented nationwide, comprising 593,428 units. Among these projects, 103 have been completed, totaling 66,755 units; 137 projects have begun construction, amounting to 114,618 units; and 415 projects have received approval for investment policies, with a total of 412,055 units. So far, the number of apartments that have been started and completed accounts for approximately 42.38% of the target set for 2025.

At the conference, ministries and branches reported issues related to the disbursement of 1,000 billion in support loans for businesses completing social housing development projects, worker accommodation, and renovating and rebuilding apartment buildings; and proposed solutions to facilitate safe, healthy, and sustainable development of social housing. Representatives of businesses, associations, and localities expressed their opinions and proposed solutions to encourage social housing development...

The conference established goals and proposed solutions to eliminate obstacles, aiming for the completion of 100,000 social housing units nationwide by 2025.
