Over 30 key transport projects to be completed this year

Update: 29-01-2012 | 00:00:00

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) aims to put into use more than 30 key projects this year in an effort to make a breakthrough in transport infrastructure development.

These projects include routes of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang Cultural Heritage Centre, Khe Gat Airport, Ngoc Thap Bridge, Dam Cung Bridge, Ha Long-Cai Lan railway line, An Thoi sea port, Cua Viet sea port, Danang air terminal, a runway of Danang Airport, and other projects along 19 national highways.

To achieve this target, the MoT will speed up capital-allocated, national key projects which have been delayed, while working closely with localities to pace up land clearance. It will intensify supervision and deal with bottlenecks in construction progress and quality to ensure these projects are completed on schedule.

It will also fire incapable contractors and hold individuals and collectives strictly responsible if wrongdoings are discovered.

This year the MoT strives to disburse more than VND42 trillion, of which VND7.5 trillion comes from the State budget, VND15 trillion from Government bond sales, and the remainder from other sources.

Last year some national key projects were put into operation, including HCM City-Trung Luong Highway and Danang air terminal.

Contractors are preparing for ground-breaking ceremonies of the T2 air terminal of Noi Bai international airport, bidding packages for Hanoi’s belt road No3, a road linking Noi Bai airport and Nhat Tan Bridge, and the upgrade of National Highway No18 and Yen Vien-Lao Cai railway line section
