Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee said that in order to create herb immunity, the province has issued a plan to vaccinate against Covid-19 for all people in 2022. It is expected that from January 1, 2022, the province will launch a campaign to administer booster vaccines against Covid-19. Priority is given to those who have not received the first and second shots yet. Accordingly, in 2022, the demand for Covid-19 vaccines in the province will be 7.75 million doses, including more than 5.91 million doses for people aged 18 and above  with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th shots and more than 1.83 million doses for children aged from 3 to 17.

Of these, the province plans to have 6,062,000 doses of vaccine for 3rd and 4th shots, including 4 shots for children aged 3 - 5 and 6 - 11 years old. The specific time to deploy the injections will follow the distribution of vaccines by the Ministry of Health, the supply of imported vaccines and domestically produced vaccines. The vaccines used in the 3rd shot are the vaccines used in the province such as: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Vero Cell. To carry out the campaign, the province will organize fixed and mobile injection sites. It is estimated that each injection table will inject about 400 people every day.

According to the proposal of provincial Department of Health, in January 2022, the province will deploy the 3rd Covid-18 vaccine shots. Particularly, additional COVID-19 shots will be first provided for adults (from 18 years old) who have been fully inoculated. The priority will be given to people aged over 50, those suffering from underlying health issues, people who require long-term care at health facilities, and medical workers, especially those directly involved in collecting samples for Covid-19 testing and treating Covid-19 patients.

Vietnam further receives Moderna vaccine

According to Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan, Deputy Minister of Health, Vietnam will continue receiving Moderna vaccine supported by COVAX Facility to inject people in the coming time. The Ministry of Health (MOH) has advised giving the same COVID-19 vaccine for the second dose as was used for the first one. But in the case of limited supply, the Pfizer vaccine can be given as the second dose for those who have received the AstraZeneca or Moderna vaccines for their first jab, with the consent of the people to be vaccinated with with the spacing as recommended by their manufacturers under the Ministry of Health’s Letter No. 7820/BYT-DP dated September 20, 2021.

The National Expanded Immunization Project under the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology has supported, guided vaccination practices and monitored adverse cases after vaccination when mixing vaccine jabs against Covid-19. The Ministry of Health has proposed provincial Departments of Health to direct the local vaccination facilities to set up plans and make the list of subjects to be vaccinated in accordance with the amount of vaccines distributed while providing subjects with full information before vaccination to create a high consensus.

Prior to that, the Ministry of Health's vaccine advisory announced that mRNA Covid-19 vaccines manufactured by Pfizer and Moderna can be used interchangeably as first and second doses, amid supply shortage. The vaccine council body also said that those who have received AstraZeneca as the first jab could get either Pfizer and Moderna shots as the second (previously it only allowed Pfizer)…

Up to now, the Ministry of Health has received more than 131 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines with different production technologies such as those produced by AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, etc. Of that amount, there have been more than 75 million doses of the first shot and more than 56 million doses of the second shot. Binh Duong together with localities and units across the country are making efforts to deploy vaccination to quickly achieve the coverage of the first shot for people in the age group indicated for vaccination and the second shot for those who have received the 1st dose.
