Over VND1.86bln spent on social charity activities
Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society in the first three months of 2015 mobilized more than VND1.86bln to support 4,444 needy cases.
Under the campaign of “Each organization and individual should stick to an humanitarian address”, the society mobilized donors to support more than VND90.9mln for 470 needy cases. The society also mobilized more than 2,450 kg of rice from the “charity rice jar” model for 250 needy cases.
Besides, the society gave sudden financial support for 107 needy cases, visited and offered help to 179 cases with illness and 41 funerals with difficult circumstances; awarded 47 scholarships worth nearly VND30mln to poor pupils…
The society also mobilized donors to provide free medical check-ups and medicine for 596 poor people with a total expense of more than VND143mln; checked and gave free medical consultancy for 300 cases; maintained a charity kitchen at the district’s General Hospital; gave first aid for 130 cases and took them to hospitals…
