Early January 16, Dau Tieng district’s Red Cross Society held a conference to review its activities in 2014 and implement orientations, tasks through 2015.
The district’s Red Cross Society last year got involved in such social charity activities as awarding scholarships to the poor, building “Red Cross” houses, presenting wheelchairs to the disabled …with a total expense of more than VND3bln, offering help to 9,523 those with difficulties. The society also paid attention to public healthcare.
In addition, the district’s Red Cross Society and its affiliates teamed up with relevant agencies to provide free medical check-ups and medicine for nearly 3,000 poor people with a total expense of more than VND300mln. The local voluntary blood donation campaign was also promoted, absorbing 1,500 participants with 1,258 units of blood given, beyond nearly 30% of the set target.
On this occasion, the district’s Red Cross Society mobilized donors to award 20 scholarships worth VND20mln to poor-but-excellent pupils.
