Over VND4.8billion spent on supporting needy cases

Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society, on July 11, held a conference to partially sum up its activities in the first half of 2018.

Over the past six months, the society offered help of more than VND4.8billion to 31,265 needy cases. Under the movement of “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims”, the society held a jogging program “Sharing efforts for humanity” with more than VND210million raised. The society also mobilized organizations and individuals to present 4,456 Tet gifts worth more than VND1.25billion to disadvantaged people.

Further implementing the campaign of “Each organization, individual should stick to a humanitarian address”, the society mobilized donors to help 1,268 needy people with more than VND280million; built 2 “red cross” houses with a total expense of VND125million; upgraded 1 “red cross” house with a total expense of more than VND4million; supported VND36million for three heroic Vietnamese mothers; awarded 12 scholarships, 2,150 notebooks to poor-but-excellent pupils; presented more than 1,050 gifts worth more than VND347million to poor households; provided free meals for more than 8,510 people with a total expense of more than VND123million…

For the rest of the year, the society will further uphold its achievements done, mobilize donors to offer more help to disadvantaged people…
