Over VND8.1bln spent on helping women in economic development

Under the “Women helping each other in economic development” model, Phu Giao district’s Women’s Union last year considered and disbursed VND8.1bln in loan from many difference sources for 4,503 women to foster home based business.

The local Women’s Union also mobilized 2,386 well-off women to offer help on nurslings, breeding animals, money…to 696 poor ones with a total value of VND1.81bln; teamed up with the district-based branch of the Bank for Social Policies to consider and disburse more than VND8bln in loan for women to develop production-business models. The figure brought the branch’s total outstanding loans by the end of 2015 to more than VND53.6bln with 3,743 borrowing households.

Besides, the local Women’s Union maintained 2 clubs for farms’female proprietors, thereby mobilizing VND94mln in loan for 24 poor women; helped 103 women escape poverty from many different loan sources…
