Update: 11-03-2022 | 10:07:37

Based on results done and production-business efforts to make up for the shortfall caused by Covid-19 pandemic, in the first two months of 2022, Binh Duong's economy accelerated recovery and development to ensure the completion of the set targets.

Constant efforts

According to Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee, with the effectiveness in Covid-19 prevention and control, Binh Duong soon returned to "the new normal" state by the end of 2021. As of now, the province has adapted safely to the pandemic. All-level authorities, sectors, and business community in the province have confidently entered a new phase.

Although facing difficulties, wood enterprises are still trying to find a way for development. In picture: Production activities at Tan Nhat Co., Ltd. in the expanded Nam Tan Uyen Industrial Park on the first days of March

In terms of key tasks in the coming time, Mr. Minh said that Binh Duong will continue focusing on implementing the Government's Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP dated January 30, 2022 on synchronous, effective economic development and recovery. The province will strive                                                                          to achieve the target of average GRDP at 8.5% - 8.7%/year and 8% - 8.3% in 2022. Also, the province will proactively recheck, remove or propose competent authorities to remove obstacles hindering production and business activities.

Along with the local socio-economic recovery, Binh Duong is focusing on investing in transport infrastructure and industrial parks (IPs), especially connecting the region. Particularly, the province will coordinate with neighboring localities to invest in traffic routes of belt 3, belt 4, Ho Chi Minh city - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway, An Tay port...It is expected that in March, Binh Duong will start construction of VISIP III and also build Cay Truong IP in the second quarter of 2022 with total clean land of about 2,000 hectares. Besides, Binh Duong this year proposes to update the planning of some other Ips, namely North Tan Uyen, Rach Bap… for expansion.

In addition, Binh Duong will also focus on industrial development towards forming up sci-tech industrial parks, renovating and attracting projects that are less labor intensive and have high sci-tech qualifications. “On the basis of the local clean land fund, Binh Duong believes that it will attract hi-tech projects from international investors, improving competitiveness, thereby transforming industrial structure, increasing labor productivity, helping it grow quickly and sustainably and soon escape the middle income level, becoming a locality with the high average income per capita. I want that people will have consensus on site clearance, creating conditions for key projects to be deployed soon,” said Mr. Minh.

Overcoming all difficulties

Entering 2022, enterprises and people in the province have safely adapted to the pandemic with production and business activities getting stability again. The province’s index of industrial production (IIP) in the first two months of the year increased by 6.1% over the same period. In the new situation of recovering from the pandemic, most enterprises are still facing difficulties, but the province’s high IIP is a remarkable result. Nguyen Quoc Thai, Deputy General Director of Tan Binh Industrial Park Joint Stock Company said that currently, enterprises in the IP are trying their best to make up for the shortage of orders from the pandemic. In addition, these enterprises have also attached special importance to ensuring safety for the pandemic. For workers who have not received the 3rd Covid-19 vaccine shot, the Management Board of the Industrial Park will contact localities, creating favorable conditions for them to get the fastest vaccination. “We are also promoting the recruitment of laborers to serve enterprises in the industrial park while providing the best services for enterprises”, said Mr. Thai. Currently, Tan Binh Industrial Park Joint Stock Company has a plan to expand its area of phase 2 with 1,055 hectares. The company is accelerating the progress of the expansion in Bau Bang district.

Currently, the situation of Covid-19 pandemic in the world is still complicated. In the process of restoring production and import-export activities, enterprises have to face many challenges and pressures from high production costs, due to high prices. The transportation of goods and materials is still not really smooth..., but enterprises still make efforts to adapt and develop.

According to Dien Quang Hiep, General Director of Minh Phat 2 Co., Ltd. in Thuan An city, over the past 2 years, wood materials from Europe have increased by 50%, causing a great pressure on enterprises in terms of cost and forcing customers to find solutions as well. However, furniture manufacturers in Europe are also lacking raw materials from Russia. This is also an opportunity for Vietnam to boost furniture exports. With some product details, enterprises have discussed with partners to replace other wood. Meanwhile, Vietnam now has good supply with a large amount of wood from planted forests. In the current unstable situation, maintaining, protecting and developing the domestic wood supply in both quantity and quality will be a good support for Vietnamese wood processing enterprises.

In order to further maintain the momentum of economic growth and stability, enterprises have suggested sectors to quickly implement support programs approved by the Government, especially policies on capital support, labor supply…while expanding many channels to access preferential loans for small and medium-sized enterprises affected by the Covid-19 pandemic...
