Paris concert raises funds for poor Vietnamese students

A concert entitled “From Europe to Asia” featuring Vietnamese and French musicians was held in Paris, France on May 23 to raise funds for disadvantaged Vietnamese students. This was the third performance jointly organized by Professor Odon Vallet, from the Sorbonne University in Paris and executive members of the Vietnamese Association in France (UGVF) Can Van Kiet and his son, the pianist Can Vu Ngoc.Representatives from the Vietnamese embassy in France, overseas Vietnamese and Vietnamese students attended the event along with Frenchfriends.The audience enjoyed famous pieces of classical music performed by pianists Can Vu Ngoc and Tran Phuong Nam, and flautist Isabelle Hureau, as well as Vietnamese folk songs presented by Mai Thanh Nam, a student at the Meudon Conservatory of Music.All proceeds from the concert will be donated as VND3 million scholarships to poor Vietnamese students studying at 12 universities including the University of Technology and University of Natural Sciences in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Nguyen University and four universities in Danang.
