Welcoming them at Kuala Lumpur International Airport were Malaysia’s Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation Chang Lih Kang and his wife; chief protocol officer Datuk Rozainor bin Ramli; Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato’ Tan Yang Thai; and Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Dinh Ngoc Linh, among others.
Vietnam and Malaysia established their diplomatic relations on March 30, 1973. The bilateral relationship has developed well, on the basis of a strategic partnership set up in August 2015.
Ambassador Linh said that the official visit, which comes ahead of the 10th anniversary of the bilateral strategic partnership next year, will help reinforce the foundation of the political relationship and provide new momentum to further promote strategic cooperation across all fields.
It will also mark a new milestone in deepening the already excellent cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia, and paving the way for a new, higher level in their bilateral relations, Linh added.
Deputy Ambassador of Malaysia to Vietnam Cik Aida Safura Niza Othman stated that the Malaysia-Vietnam Strategic Partnership has grown stronger since its establishment almost 10 years ago in 2015, and there is optimism in the positive direction it is taking.
In the economic-trade field, Malaysia is Vietnam's second trade and investment partner in ASEAN. Meanwhile, Vietnam is Malaysia's third trading partner in ASEAN with two-way trade hitting 12.7 billion USD in 2023. There is tremendous potential to further expand the trade ties, especially in emerging sectors like digital economy, e-commerce, and sustainable energy, as both countries are committed to diversifying trade, moving beyond traditional goods into the areas with higher values like technology, and renewable energy, which will be the key to their future economic growth./.
