Party leader visits Vietnam Embassy in India

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has asked the ambassador and embassy staff to work hard to strengthen ties between Vietnam and India and support Vietnamese nationals there.

While visiting the embassy’s headquarters in capital New Delhi on November 19, Trong confirmed Vietnam attaches importance to developing the ties of traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam.

 

He briefed them on Vietnam’s major developments in recent times, saying despite difficult times the country has achieved steady economic growth, maintained national defence and security, and ensured social welfare.

 

He said the country’s achievements, together with bustling diplomatic campaigns, have helped elevate Vietnam’s profile globally.

 

Vietnam has established the strategic partnership and comprehensive strategic partnership with many countries, and this India visit aims to bring bilateral strategic partnership to a new level, he said.

 

He expressed hope embassy staff will further unite to fulfil their assigned tasks, and Vietnamese nationals will abide by local law, provide mutual assistance, and turn their hearts to the homeland.

 

Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Tan informed Trong about the embassy’s plan of action to realise cooperation agreements between the two countries, spanning politics, economic, trade, investment, science-technology, education-training, and national security and defence.

 

The Party leader Trong is paying an official visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from November 19-22.

 

He is scheduled to hold talks with PM Singh, and meet with a number of other senior Indian leaders.
