Patriotic emulation movements, a motivation for socio-economic development in Phu Giao

Through patriotic emulation movements, Phu Giao district’s Party, government and people have made great contributions to the local socio-economic development with national defence-security ensured and rural image reshaped.

During the past five years, the district’s People’s Committee actively promoted patriotic emulation movements among people from all strata, greatly contributing to the local socio-economic development. The local rural image was improved considerably with economic growth remaining stable at the annual average level of 12.44%.

As of late 2014, the average income per capita of the local people reached VND34.5mln; the ratio of poor households herein reduced to 1.69%. The whole district had 31 out of 37 schools meeting national standards and there were also 2 out of 10 communes recognized as new-style rural ones.

The local authorities at all levels also well realized social welfare policies and “paying debt of gratitude” movements. The district over the past five years visited and presented a total of 5,560 gifts worth more than VND2.68bln to policy beneficiaries and those who have rendered great services to the nation; built and upgraded 107 gratitude houses to policy beneficiaries and revolutionary contributors in need of housing with a total expense of more than VND4.5bln.

Doan Van Dong, Chairman of the district’s People’s Committee cum Chairman of the district’s Council for Emulation and Reward said that patriotic emulation movements in the district have actually become a motivation for the local socio-economic development. They have contributed to helping the locality build up strong Party, administration and mass organizations, taking good care of people’s material and spiritual lives, maintaining social order and security, strengthening the national great unity bloc.

Exemplary role-models discovered

Many exemplary role-models have been discovered from patriotic emulation movements in Phu Giao district.

Tan Hiep commune is a typical example for the above thing. Implementing patriotic emulation movements in association with the new rural construction program, the commune over the past time carried out 12 traffic works with a total expense of more than VND8.4bln, including VND500mln from locals. They also donated land together with many other things valued at more than VND2bln to making the above traffic works.

Through propaganda work, the local people also upgraded their houses, thereby contributing to helping Tan Hiep have quick steps on the way of the development of a modern new rural commune with sustainable evolution in the future.

Nguyen Thanh Ha is also well-known as an exemplary role-model in agricultural production in Vinh Hoa commune’s Vinh Tien hamlet. Thanks to his own efforts, Ha has successfully built “Thanh Ha” orchid trademark and is now the owner of an orchid garden of around 2,000 square meters. He has also become one of the district’s exemplary role-models in the emulation movement of “Good farmer in production and business”.

Or, Do Thi Phuong Thuy is now one of exemplary role-models in the local educational sector. She has got involved in teaching task at Phuoc Vinh primary school in Phuoc Vinh township for 12 years. And she has always taken the lead in the “good teaching, good learning” movement of the local educational sector…

Through patriotic emulation movements, Phu Giao district’s Party, government and people have made great contributions to the local socio-economic development with national defence-security ensured and rural image reshaped, contributing to successfully realizing targets set out by the Resolution of the district’s Party Congress for the 2010-2015 tenure.
