Paving the way for development
After 28 years of construction and development, Binh Duong has consistently relied on industry as the foundation for its breakthroughs. The key elements include the development of transport infrastructure, the establishment of concentrated industrial parks, and the growth of trade and accompanying services. These efforts aim to create a strong momentum for development.
A developing journey of many efforts
Thanks to the clear and consistent vision in planning and development from generations of provincial leaders, Binh Duong province, formerly known as Song Be, has effectively leveraged its geographical advantages since the implementation of the national Renewal policy. The province has invested in infrastructure and created a favorable investment environment, which has attracted businesses, generated jobs for the local population, increased budget revenues, and fostered comprehensive development.
Right from early years of the Renewal period, Song Be - Binh Duong province has been one step ahead in orienting industrial development associated with infrastructure and urban service planning. Industrial Parks (IPs) such as Vietnam - Singapore, Song Than, My Phuoc, Bau Bang... not only strongly attract domestic and foreign investment capital, but also create a modern, synchronous production ecosystem, enhancing the competitiveness of the whole region.
Meanwhile, the establishment of Becamex IDC Corporation has been pivotal in the investment and development of industrial parks, urban areas, and services in a coordinated manner. Notably, the industrial park development model in Binh Duong has achieved significant success due to its unique approach. This approach focuses on investing in infrastructure, transportation, and technology to systematically connect industrial parks with urban areas and large seaports from the very beginning.
Professor - Doctor Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, once affirmed: The development approach of Binh Duong province is the conversion of disadvantages into advantages, creating the right development strategy to break through and move forward. It is the combination of the aspiration to conquer the peaks with a vision to surpass and the spirit of constant innovation and creativity along with the policy of paving the way, the facilitation mechanism of the Central Government is concretized, integrated with flexible ways of doing things, creative application of the locality, the companionship and sharing of businesses and people; between the close connection of the economic growth target with ensuring social security, human development, protecting the ecological environment in the process of promoting industrialization, modernization and urbanization. All have created a strong Binh Duong today. |
A major milestone is that the province assigned Becamex IDC Corporation to invest in expanding and upgrading National Highway 13. The project has created momentum for Binh Duong and the southeastern provinces to develop. On the way forward, Binh Duong has not developed alone but proactively coordinated closely with Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc, etc., to form a dynamic and effective Southern Key Economic Zone. Binh Duong is decisively promoting the acceleration of key infrastructure projects, including Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 of Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh Expressway, expansion of National Highway 13... Key routes such as Binh Duong Boulevard, My Phuoc - Tan Van, DT743, National Highway 13 expansion, Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 of Ho Chi Minh City, etc., promote the formation of an effective regional transport network, creating favorable conditions for transporting goods, attracting investment and developing modern urban areas.
Mr. Pham Ngoc Thuan, General Director of Becamex IDC Corporation, said: “We always focus on developing synchronous and modern infrastructure to meet the increasing needs of high-tech manufacturing enterprises. The expansion of VSIPs not only aims to provide industrial space but also focuses on an ecosystem of urban, service and commercial areas, creating favorable conditions to attract talent and improve the quality of life for the workforce”.
Building a new ecosystem
Binh Duong has launched the Binh Duong Smart City Project, collaborating with international organizations such as the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF). The province is striving to create a modern urban model that emphasizes knowledge, technology, and innovation. Additionally, Binh Duong is actively pursuing its "innovation zone" strategy, with key areas including Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong New City, Tan Uyen City, and Ben Cat City, which are designed to enhance inter-regional and international connectivity. These initiatives aim to help Binh Duong effectively address the challenges of the middle-income trap, take the lead in innovation, and collaborate with neighboring provinces and cities in the Southeast region to become a driving force for the country's economic development, ultimately achieving international standards.
Binh Duong is currently implementing a wide range of comprehensive solutions aimed at developing a new ecosystem that emphasizes innovation and the growth of high-value industries. Additionally, the province is focusing on building a green economy driven by science and technology. This initiative is a top priority and serves as a distinguishing factor in attracting both domestic and international investments.
Thanks to consistent efforts, Binh Duong has become an ideal destination for many large international corporations. Provincial leaders have participated in investment promotion conferences within the province and seminars abroad, affirming that Binh Duong is undergoing a transformative phase. The province aims to build a green economy, digital economy, and circular economy, while also focusing on semiconductor chips and participating in the global value chain.
With a commitment to improvement, Binh Duong has mobilized the combined strengths of its community and capitalized on its geographical advantages. The province effectively utilizes internal and external resources to drive industrial economic development in this new era. As a result, the business environment has been continually enhanced, placing Binh Duong at the forefront of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI). Its industrial parks operate with an international perspective, attracting major corporations and supporting the aspiration for smarter and more sustainable practices.
As Mr. Niels B. Christiansen, General Director of the Lego Group (Denmark), stated during the inauguration of the Lego Factory in Binh Duong: “Today marks an important milestone as Lego officially opens its sixth factory globally. Through the expansion of production capacity, this high-tech factory demonstrates our commitment to sustainable development.”
Adopting a policy of prioritizing industry as the main driving force, Binh Duong continues to expand both the scale and number of its industrial parks. Currently, the province boasts 29 operating industrial parks, covering more than 12,721 hectares, which accounts for 13% of the total industrial park area in the country. Binh Duong has established itself as one of the leading regions in industrial production nationwide. |
