Update: 01-08-2023 | 11:12:02

The education - training sector and parents have paid attention to education on life skills for children, helping them grow up, be self-confident and adapt to the situation. Currently, in addition to the regular curriculum that integrates many lessons, courses on life skills for children in the summer are also opened and many parents choose to register for their children to attend.

Grow more after each experience

In order to educate the traditional history of the nation for the local teenagers and children, Phu Giao district’s Youth Union Standing Committee, Young Pioneer Organization (YPO) have organized a journey "Following tradition, firmly stepping into the future” and Summer Camp “82 flower seasons-YPO  growing up together with the country” to visit historical sites in Da Lat city in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong province. Here, the children had the opportunity to visit and learn about the relic of the Da Lat Children's Prison, where more than 600 juvenile prisoners were detained and heard stories about heroic children's examples.

Children in the province participate in the “Police Semester Program” during the summer

Nguyen Ngoc Khai Vy, a student at Nguyen Trai secondary school shared: “Participating in this trip is a pride and honor for myself and the children of Phu Giao district. This trip helped us learn more about the heroic tradition of the elders. I also feel proud of the fighting spirit of the nation, especially the generations of children who were imprisoned here. That is the motivation for me and the children of Phu Giao to constantly strive to study well and be obedient to repay gratitude to those who sacrificed their lives for the country".

Recently, provincial Military Command in collaboration with Phu Hoa 3 primary school in Thu Dau Mot city has organized a creative experience program with the theme of "I learn to be a soldier of the Vietnam People's Army". Provincial Youth Union Standing Committee, Police Agency and Children's Cultural House jointly organized a program "Learning to be a police officer - Active teen learns good things"... These activities contributed to fostering love for the country, national pride for Youth Union, YPO members and students.

The organization of playgrounds to build up a safe environment for children, especially in the summer, are also concerned by localities. Through local summer activities, the children were also taught some skills on prevention of accidents and injuries, abuse and violence..., thereby contributing to raising awareness and life skills among children, helping them confidently communicate and protect themselves from dangerous things.

Skill classes developed

In recent years, life skills have been one of the subjects chosen by many parents in the summer. Catching up with that trend, most children's cultural houses and private educational institutions have opened summer art, talent and sports courses for children, aiming at creating an environment for them to have conditions for their physical development as well as aptitude evolution.

At provincial Children's Cultural House, every summer vacation, many parents come to register classes for their children. In order to meet increasingly diverse learning needs, every year, especially in the summer, provincial Children's Cultural House sets up a methodical program and plan and increases subjects at the needs of all ages and trends of the society. Currently, provincial Children's Cultural House is having classes on martial arts, dancing, singing, drawing, public speaking... To meet children’s needs for learning, the unit has also made great efforts in investing in material facilities and equipment suitable for each age group.

Tran Huy Bang, a life skill coach of provincial Children's Cultural House said that classes on life skills are integrated through classes, courses and programs. Through these classes, children are taught the most basic things such as self-introduction, communication skills, teamwork, discovery skills... The purpose of these classes is to help children become more self-confident and independent in life.

“However, these are complementary skills and can be only learned in a short time. Meanwhile, they need to be trained regularly and continuously to form up good skills and reflexes. For the courses to be really useful to their children, parents should find out what additional knowledge and skills their children need to find right courses while coordinating with teachers to closely monitor the program to educate their children together", added Mr. Bang.

Hopefully, with skill classes organized diversely, children in the province will have many useful playgrounds and exciting experiential activities after a year of study. Training life skills in any forms equips teenagers and children with necessary knowledge about life, helping them have useful and meaningful summer days; motivate and inspire them to enter a new school year with lots of fun.

In the province, there are many skill courses in the summer for children to experience, discover themselves and improve life skills. In addition, many centers also set up interesting experience forms such as learning about nature, experiencing military life, visiting labor models, summer camps... and they are welcomed by a large number of parents…
