Early March 31, Viet Nam Federation of Civil Engineering Association held a seminar on "Social housing development - a business perspective". The event was attended by Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial People's Council; leaders of provincial Department of Construction together with managers, scientists and businesses at provincial Exhibition and Convention Center.
At the workshop, participants said that the development of social housing projects nationwide has not yet met the needs of the people. The main reason is that many localities do not have land use plans for social housing development. Procedures to implement a project that are prolonged and the regulation on profits not exceeding 10% have made businesses uninterested. In addition, it is difficult for businesses to access preferential loans from the State. Mrs. Phuong said: “Over the past time, the province took care of people’s housing and identified this as a key task in the local socio-economic development, especially attached special importance to social housing development, supplying accommodations for low-income people and workers in industrial parks. The opinions and recommendations of the delegates will contribute to helping State management agencies perfect institutions and policies to mobilize resources, promoting the local social housing development in the future.
