Expect success

In recent years, Phu Giao district's agricultural industry has continued to develop in the right direction by production linked to the market. Besides the main crop rubber, the district also forms concentrated fruit growing areas along rivers and streams. Oranges, green-skinned pomelos, tangerines, seedless lemons, melons, durian, and jackfruits are the main fruit trees of the district. The entire district currently has 815 households and agricultural production facilities applying high technology, an increase of 111 households, 122 agricultural production facilities with VietGAP certificates, an increase of 9 facilities compared to the end of 2023.

In the district, some major industrial and handicraft groups have been formed, such as agricultural and food processing, mineral exploitation and processing, construction material production, wood processing... on a large, medium and small scales. The entire district currently has over 600 enterprises and industrial and handicraft production establishments with the participation of many economic sectors.

According to Doan Van Dong, Chairman of Phu Giao District People's Committee, the district's agricultural sector has reaped good results in recent times, but the district's agricultural products are mainly exported in fresh form, with low export value. In addition, the district has not yet formed horizontal links between households and production farms to stimulate product consumption. The industrial sector develops relatively slowly, not commensurate with the potential and advantages of the district. Organizing trade fairs, displaying and promoting industrial and agricultural products is an opportunity to attract the attention and participation of agricultural production businesses to local specialty products.

Dong added that through the organization of trade fairs, they aim to search, select and develop typical agricultural products, outstanding and potential products in the district. Thereby, encouraging and building the spirit of entrepreneurship among the people. This is also a chance to apply State policies on supporting organizations and individuals with quality and potential products that receive high scores, thereby facilitating linkages, trade and local economic development.

Opportunity to develop connections

This year, the trade fair, display and promotion of industrial and agricultural products hosted by Phu Giao district in coordination with the Provincial Center for Trade Promotion and Industrial Development is expected to gather more than 60 booths of products from various types, attractive in both quality and price. The fair also displays and introduces fertilizer products, machinery and equipment serving agricultural production such as aircraft spraying systems, automatic watering systems, high quality fertilizer products… In addition, there are also essential products such as necessities, daily necessities, clothing products, footwear... with good quality and prices suitable for the lives of workers and people in the area.

Chau Van Loi, owner of a 6-hectare pomelo farm (Suoi Con hamlet, Phuoc Hoa commune), shared: "All farmers are looking forward to a fair to promote their products. They always want to have a stable consumer market for their products to avoid losing prices or surpluses that cannot be sold. Participating in the fair is an opportunity to reach more potential customers."

Luong Thi Nhi, Director of Tan Hiep Phat Garment Cooperative (Tan Hiep commune), said that the fair is not only a place for simple product buying and selling activities, but also a place to promote and directly meet customers and partners inside and outside the province. Thereby, the image of businesses will be closer and more popular with consumers.

According to Huynh Ngoc Anh, Head of the Economic Office of Phu Giao district, the fair will create favorable conditions for organizations and people in the district to exchange, access and experience agricultural and industrial products, advanced equipment and technology for production and life. At the same time, the fair promotes trade and connection activities between organizations and individuals in the production and consumption chain, helping to increase value. For consumers, this is an opportunity to visit and learn about many quality products inside and outside the province.

“In particular, this is an opportunity for farmers to meet, exchange, learn and access achievements, products, and advanced technology in the field of agriculture from participants of the fair. Since then, scientific and technical advances will be widely applied into the production and processing of agricultural products, helping to improve efficiency, productivity and product quality," Anh added.

In order to promote commercial activities and celebrate the 25th anniversary of the re-establishment of Phu Giao district (August 20, 1999 - August 20, 2024), the 2024 trade fair for display and promotion of agricultural and industrial products of Phu Giao district will take place from July 12 to 14 at the district stadium with 60 booths. The fair has many meaningful events, such as a product contest, a hometown culinary contest, in addition to cultural and artistic activities to serve tourists visiting and shopping.
