Implementing poverty reduction on Phu Giao district’s party committee’s resolution, the local steering board of poverty reduction program has over the past 5 years instructed its affiliates to excel supportive policies for the poor.

The locality has over years disbursed over VND58bil from the local Bank for Social Policies for 3,995 beneficiaries. Implementing policies of housing support for the poor, the district has granted 332 houses worth VND5.2bil, offered 48,579 health insurance cards for needy people and offered free health care for 186.296 poor people with the total value of over VND8.5bil .

The above policies have contributed to decline the rate of poor households in the whole district at 3.84% in 2010. In the period of 2011-2015, the locality annually strives to decrease poor ratio from 2.5%-3%, place jobs for 800 laborers, build and grant 200 houses for the needy, offer health insurance cards for all poor people in the locality.
