In 2013, Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society visited and presented 208 gifts worth VND67mln; presented 9 wheelchairs valued at VND15mln to the disabled and Agent Orange victims; built and donated 2 Red Cross houses with a total expense of VND85mln; mobilized and gave 2,626 gifts to poor people, those hit by natural disasters…with a total value of more than VND1.3bln. 

Under the movement of “Charity rice jar”, the district’s Red Cross Society last year mobilized members to contribute more than 11.7 tons of rice and VND295mln in cash to 1,750 poor households. The society also provided regular allowance of VND524mln for more than 2,270 poor people; awarded 1,804 scholarships worth VND622mln and provided unexpected support of more than VND780mln for 922 cases…

Such these apart, Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society regularly maintained public healthcare, teamed up with relevant agencies to provide free medical check-ups and medicine for the poor, effectively maintained charity kitchens, raised money for the local Fund for the Poor…It is known that the society last year spent more than VND8.1bln on social charity activities with more than 33,470 cases getting help.
