Phu Giao makes efforts in giving vocational training for rural laborers

Phu Giao district has actively sped up vocational training  for rural laborers, helping them get access to skills and earn their living by their skills learnt.

Training suitable skills

Phu Giao district attached special importance to giving vocational training for rural laborers over the past years, contributing to improving their lives. The district constantly built and perfected its material facilities, creating favorable conditions for the local vocational training for rural laborers.

In 2013 alone, the district organized 18 vocational training classes with many different skills, including techniques to grow, tend rubber trees and tap their latex, cooking, household sewing…for 498 rural laborers or 191% of the year’s plan.

Phuoc Vinh township is an outstanding locality in giving vocational training for rural laborers. In precious years, there was a large number of laborers working as workers at district-based rubber companies. But, they have recently managed to seek other jobs to be able to stabilize their lives when the price of rubber latex has gone down. Hence, opening vocational training classes in the township is very significant to deal with a thorny problem in terms of labor and employment.

In Q1 2014, the People’s Committee of My Phuoc township joined hands with the Vocational Training Center under provincial Farmers’ Association to open 2 vocational training classes on techniques to tend orchids and other ornamental plants, cooking for 101 learners.

According to Huynh Huy Long, Vice-Chairman of the People’s Committee of My Phuoc township, vocational training classes opened the township is very suitable to the local laborers. After graduation, they can apply knowledge learnt into reality, contributing to making the local program on hunger eradication and poverty reduction.

Tao Thanh Xuan, Head of Phu Giao district’s Division of Labor-War Invalids and Social Affairs said that giving vocational training for rural laborers has enjoyed advantages thanks to the attention of the district plus learners’ good awareness in studying. “Giving vocational training for rural laborers in Phu Giao has played an important role in developing human resources, contributing to making effective models. This has helped shift the local labor structure”.

Vocational training

Along with results done, Mr.Xuan said that the district’s vocational training for rural laborers has faced some shortcomings for change.

According to Doan Van Dong, Vice-Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee, authorities at all levels of the district will re-arrange vocational training facilities at grassroots level; give financial support for learners with extremely difficult circumstances.

The district will also take suitable policies to boost vocational training in association with criterion of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction with the goals of raising laborers’awareness and creating new jobs for them to shift the local economic structure; better bring into play the role of farmers in new rural construction.

In 2014, the district will team up with relevant agencies to organize 12 vocational training classes for 240 rural laborers, introduce jobs to 700 laborers in communes and Phuoc Vinh township
