63 years ago, on the early morning of September 18, 1961, the army and people of Phuoc Thanh province, under the leadership of provincial Party Committee and government, rose up to overthrow the oppressive regime of the American-backed puppets in Phuoc Thanh, seizing Phuoc Thanh provincial Governor's Palace. The Phuoc Thanh Victory delivered a strong blow to the U.S.'s special war strategy in the South. The victory is a source of pride for the army and people of Phuoc Thanh province and serves as a valuable lesson in patriotism, national pride and the glorious revolutionary tradition of the army and people of Phuoc Thanh in the past-Phu Giao district now.
Upholding the spirit of the Phuoc Thanh Victory, Phu Giao district’s Party Committee and people have achieved significant accomplishments, with the local economy and society continuously developing. Compared to the early days of reestablishment, the district’s value of agricultural, forestry and fisheries production has increased more than 38 times. The district’s industrial production has gradually formed and developed, with the total value of industrial and handicraft production in 2024 estimated to exceed VND 6.55 trillion. The district’s farm economy and high-tech agricultural models have got more and more thriving. The district has focused on investing in infrastructure, especially in traffic infrastructure. So far, all 10 communes in the district have met advanced new-style rural standards.
At the ceremony, Phu Giao district awarded the certificates of merit from the Prime Minister to 2 collectives and 3 individuals for their achievements in education and training. Provincial People's Committee also awarded the certificates of merit to 15 collectives and 26 individuals who have made significant contributions to the 25-year construction and development of Phu Giao district. On this occasion, provincial Red Cross Society awarded 140 scholarships worth VND 5 million each and gifts to poor-but-excellent students.
