Phu Giao’s economy still gets stable before difficulties

2013 was a year with many challenges for localities mainly depending on agricultural production like Phu Giao district. But with the drastic instruction of the local authorities at all levels plus solidarity and consensus among people from all strata, Phu Giao’s economy continued reaching a stable growth. 

Despite difficulties, rubber tree still play an important role in promoting Phu Giao district’s agricultural production

Vo Van Ba, Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People’s Committee said that 2013 was the mid-term period of implementation of the Resolution of the 3rd congress of the district’s Party Committee and the district’s five-year plan on socio-economic development.

Although greatly affecting by difficulties of the world and the country’s economy, the district’s Party Committee entrusted the district’s People’s Committee a task of seeking measures to implement economic development plans in line with the local situation. With upholding the local internal force and taking advantage of support of higher authorities, the district’s economy step by step overcame difficulties for stability and development

In 2013, Phu Giao district got a growth of 12.53%. The average income per capita reached VND30.8mln a year. The district’s production value of agriculture and forestry achieved more than VND3.060trillion, up 5.57% compared to 2012.

The district’s total retail sales revenue of commodities and services gained more than VND2.03trillion, up 18.36%. Noticeably, the district’s State budget collection reached more than VND153.6bln or 101% of the province’s estimation or 100% of the year’s plan.

Regarding agricultural production, the whole district last year set up additional 48 farmsteads, bringing the total number of farmsteads herein so far to 363 with a total area of more than 4,489 hectares. Additional 2 cooperatives were also set up, lifting the total number of the district’s cooperatives to 5 in effective operation.

The district’s development of farmsteads, operational efficiency of industry, home industry and cooperatives have contributed to generating jobs for rural laborers, improving the lives of the local farmers. In 2013, as many as 1,470 laborers were offered jobs or 210% of the set plan, thereby contributing to reducing the ratio of the local poor households. As of late 2013, the number of poor households herein reduced to 2.68%.

Thanks to properly realizing its economic development strategy based on the local strong points, Phu Giao district last year reached a robust economic growth. Agricultural production still played a decisive role in the district’s economy with rubber, fruit trees growing and animal husbandry as main models.

The district also made efforts in developing new production models with the harmony between agricultural-forestry production and processing industry in order to create competitive advantages, take full advantage of available materials and make a stable source of income for locals. All created a momentum for the district’s stable economic growth.
