Phu Giao’s Veterans’Association: Number of well-off members on sharp increase

In the first half of 2013, Phu Giao district’s Veterans’ Association continued effectively maintaining saving and loan-rotating groups with more than VND 580mln, offering help to 55 members and  disbursed more than VND2.6bln in loan from its fund for 224 members to develop home based business.

The local Veterans’ Associations and its affiliates also mobilized well-off cadres and members to provide needy ones with support programs on working days, cash, breeding animals, nurslings…with total value of more than VND200mln. They continued effectively tapping and using capital sources from the Plan 120 and the local Bank for Social Policy with more than VND9bln for 528 turns of members to develop home based business…

Upon the above efforts, many members under the district’s Veterans’ Association have risen up out of poverty. The whole district has so far had 1,177 households of the association’s members with well-off living standards or 73% of total; 408 households with medium living standards or 25.3% of total and 26 poor households or 1.7% of total.
