Today, Phu Giao district holds a ceremony to mark the 55th anniversary of Phuoc Thanh Victory (September 18, 1961-September 18, 2016), a highlight in Vietnamese people and army’s struggle against the U.S. 55 years since the victory of Phuoc Thanh battle, Phuoc Vinh township where the statue of Phuoc Thanh Victory is located has tried to surmount difficulties, reaping great achievements in all aspects and are now on the way of becoming a fourth-class city.

Phuoc Vinh township gets more bustling thanks to its economic structure shifted towards the growth of trade and services

Economic structure on strong shift

Huynh Duy Long, Chairman of Phuoc Vinh township’s People’s Committee said that under the leadership of provincial Party Committee and Phu Giao district’s Party Committee, the township’s Party, government and people have made efforts in economic development towards the growth of trade-services to be able to become a fourth-class city by 2020.

As of 2015, the township’s economic structure reached positive changes with 26.82% in agriculture, 30.98% in home industry and industry and 42.2% in trade-services. The average income per capital of the local people was more than VND34million. Regarding agricultural production, the whole township had a total of 52 farmsteads on animal husbandry and cultivation…with a focus on development at market’s demand. Currently, there are only 47 poor households under the province’s poverty line or 1.32% of total; nearly 2,200 well-off households or 60% of total…The whole township also has a total of 37 ethnic minority households and most of them secure a stable life. The above results are also the foundation for the township to raise the average income per capita of the local people by the end of 2016 to VND36million.

Le Long Hai, Vice-Chairman of Phuoc Vinh township said that as of late 2010, the proportion of trade and trades accounted for more than 22% of the local economic structure. Currently, the figure amounts to nearly 74%. The township is also home to 1,422 establishments in trade-services, home industry and industry. They have effectively contributed to generating jobs for locals and increasing their incomes.

Attaching special importance to urban development

Over the past five years, locals made contributions to the urban development process of the township. There were 19 urban traffic roads completed under the spirit of “State and people work together” with a total investment of more than VND10billion. Particularly, locals contributed more than VND500,000 million, thousands of square meters of land and nearly 2,000 working days to these roads.

According to Mr.Hai, the township’s infrastructure systems have sufficiently met locals’ needs for education, culture and healthcare. 100% of households now use national power grid, clean water and own means of transport, audio-visual equipment…All show that the lives of locals have been improved.

Meanwhile, Mr.Long asserted that Phuoc Vinh township is now on the way of developing into a fourth-class city, so it pays more attention to infrastructure construction and urban rejuvenation. The township is drastically dealing with illegal construction cases while tightening control over exploitation and trade of minerals. The township will also strengthen inspection and seriously solve infringements in terms of production and business environment; remove breeding and production facilities causing environmental pollution from residential areas…

He added that locals have actively supported the local government in urban management with the birth of self-management groups in terms of environmental hygiene, model streets…, making the local urban image get more specious, nicer and beautiful in line with urban civilized lifestyle.
