Plan to raise provincial poverty line about 1.5 times higher than central level submitted

Update: 13-04-2022 | 11:49:24

Early April 12, Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee chaired a meeting with provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) about the formulation of the resolution on the province's multidimensional poverty line for the 2022-2025 period.

At the meeting, provincial DoLISA proposed two options for the province's multi-dimensional poverty line for the 2022-2025 period. Specifically, the option 1 is to raise the province's income poverty line to about 1.3 times higher than the central level; the option 2 is to raise the income poverty line of the province to about 1.5 times higher than the central level, and the threshold for the lack of basic social services will be 2 indicators or more. Provincial DoLISA proposed to prioritize the option 2. It is expected that if this option is implemented, the number of poor households and near-poor ones in the province will increase to about 8,000, and 5,000, respectively. On that basis, the province’s State budget for 3 years (2023-2025) is more than VND140.29billion, an increase of more than VND 78 billion compared to the implementation of the central poverty line. This proposal is expected to be submitted and approved at the mid-year meeting of the 10th provincial People's Council.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Ha suggested provincial DoLISA to recheck consumption indicators, clarifying the superiority of this resolution compared to the previous one in table to create persuasion at a high level.
