The event attracts players from 15 European countries and from the Republic of Korea (RoK), Japan and Vietnam.  

They will be divided into 6 groups and play in the round robin format to select the 8 best teams for the quarter-finals.

Vietnam is in group C with Belgium and Italy. Cuong (world no. 29) and Vu (world no. 35) will face a huge challenge as Belgium was last year’s runner-up.

They will have to defeat Italy’s Sciacca Emilio (world no. 44) and Cortese Fabrizio (world no.221) and put up a strong showing against Belgium if they want to advance to the next round.

Vu has been one of Vietnam’s key players in recent SEA Games and Asian Games, while Cuong is a rising star who offered convincing performances at a number of World Cup tournaments and won a place at the World Three Cushion Championships last year.

Cuong defeated the veteran Turkish player Murat Naci Coklu and world runner-up Caudron Frederic from Belgium at the World Cup Carom Billiard 3-Cushion in Suwon, the RoK, last September.
