Update: 30-08-2013 | 00:00:00

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has told Seychelles President James Alix Michel of Vietnam’s enthusiasm at their talks in Hanoi on August 29.

Dung acknowledged the fruitful results of Michel’s recent discussions with President Truong Tan Sang and expressed hopes that the agreements signed during the current visit will push bilateral relations to new heights.

He thanked the Seychelles Government for recognising Vietnam’s market economy, recommended close coordination at regional and international forums, and urged both nations to seize the investment potential of cooperation in tourism, agriculture, seafood, oil and gas, and renewable energy.

Dung committed the Vietnamese Government to providing an environment encouraging investment and trade links between Seychelles businesses and their Vietnamese partners. Ministries and sectors will be tasked with implementing the signed, mutually beneficial bilateral agreements as promptly and proficiently as possible.

President Michel said his visit has overseen the signing of five cooperative agreements covering diplomacy, aviation, tourism, trade, and a twin city relationship between Hanoi and Victoria.

Michel hopes Vietnam will serve as the Seychelles’ gateway expanded economic and trade cooperation with ASEAN nations and offered his country’s assistance in bridging Vietnam and the wider African region.

He also pledged support for Vietnam at multilateral forums and in facilitating working together on developing the two countries’ marine-based economies.
