President Sang meets Chinese Party leader

 President Sang reiterated Vietnam’s policy of independent diplomacy and respecting a stable and long term relations with China at a September 3 meeting with Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

The State leader called for the implementation of common awareness and commitments between both countries’ leaders to deepen mutual understanding and friendship.

He underlined the need to consolidate political trust, maintain high-level meetings and visits, strengthen people-to-people exchange – especially between younger generations, and accelerate the implementation of agreements and common perceptions reached between the two countries’ leaders.

Sang also asked for well control of conflicts at sea, not expanding disputes while securing peace, stability and development in the East Sea and speeding up cooperation projects in line with international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 (UNCLOS). 

President Xi Jinping in turn reiterated Chinese constant policy of promoting friendship with Vietnam for mutual interest and regional peace and development.

The two leaders agreed to forge bilateral political ties, realize reached agreements in economics, trade and investment; and work together to settle disputes satisfactorily. 

The same day, President Sang visited the Vietnam Embassy in China.
