On April 15, at Binh Duong Provincial Exhibition and Convention Center, the Vietnam Vovinam Federation (VVF) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Vovinam - Vietnamese martial arts (1938-2023) and VVF Congress. Politburo member, President Vo Van Thuong attended the ceremony. The ceremony also had the participation of former President Nguyen Minh Triet; Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee, Head of Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; former leaders of Binh Duong province; representatives of the Central and local departments, and agencies, international guests.

Vovinam was born in 1938, when the whole country was boiling with the spirit of resistance against the French colonialists. At that time, Nguyen Loc, after studying many martial arts, created a new system of martial arts techniques called Vovinam (Vietnamese martial arts). After many efforts, Vovinam has gradually proved itself and becomes the pride of the national martial art...

At the ceremony, Mai Huu Tin, President of VVF and Vovinam World Federation (WVVF), said: “Although we have developed Vovinam to 70 countries and territories, covering 5 continents, we will not stop, but want to develop more widely. Vovinam's 85 years of development have created a cultural heritage for Vietnamese people. We will not squander that legacy, but together bring Vovinam to a more worthy height, stronger representation of the two words Vietnam.” In 2022, Vovinam has returned to the SEA Games hosted in Hanoi, made international friends love the country and people of Vietnam more and more. Vovinam will continue to participate in the upcoming 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. As planned, in June this year, VVF will complete the application for recognition of Vovinam as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Earlier, on the same morning, a congress of Vietnam Vovinam Federation took place, term IV (2023-2028). Attending the congress were 67 delegates from departments, branches, provinces, and cities nationwide.

In the new term, VVF will coordinate with the Southeast Asian Vovinam Federation to well organize the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia in May in Phnom Penh. VVF actively mobilizes countries in Southeast Asia and the host Thailand to bring Vovinam into competition at the 33rd SEA Games; helps Thailand form a force of athletes, the organizing system of Vovinam tournaments in Thailand; professional training for coaches and athletes from countries in the region; support countries to establish National Vovinam Federation to raise the position of Vovinam in other countries…

The Congress continued to elect Dr. Mai Huu Tin to hold the position of President of VVF, the 4th term; elect Nguyen Binh Dinh to hold the position of General Secretary of VVF.
