President Truong Tan Sang hailed the Vietnam Bar Association (VBA) for providing legal support to groups, corporations, and businesses as Vietnam speeds up negotiations to join the world’s major economic agreements.
President Sang, who is also Head of the Central Steering Committee on Judicial Reform, said the committee will offer the association favorable conditions to boost its judicial reform.
Sang applauded the association’s role in social criticism, law enforcement monitoring and the settlement of legal disputes.
He asked the VBA to pay more attention to people diplomacy activities, promote training activities, and expand international cooperation to meet Vietnam’s requirements for development and international integration.
The Vietnam Bar Association was established in 1955 and now has 46,000 members.
At a meeting with the public security sector's senior generals, leaders, and heroes the same day in Hanoi, President Sang hailed the development of the sector over the past seven decades.
He attributed the sector’s growth to the contributions made by the sector’s former generals, leaders, and staff, noting that the Party and State always acknowledge and appreciate their contributions to national construction and defense.
He called on the sector to strive forward to meet new requirements of Vietnam’s development and international integration.
"The public security sector is facing huge challenges protecting national independence, sovereignty, national territorial integrity, national security and order, to boost national development. The sector’s tasks are even more difficult to accomplish amid complicated developments in the world and increasing hostile activities against the Party, State, and national unity. The sector is asked to build a transparent, strong, and elite force, and to promote the role of the sector’s leaders and generals," he said.
