Update: 03-05-2013 | 00:00:00

Curbing speculation

The program was implemented on Plan 3332/KH-UBND launched by the provincial department of Trade and Industry and relevant agencies and businesses. The program’s purpose was to stabilize market price and ensure sources of goods for people. Accordingly, before, during and after Tet holiday, businesses joining in the program had to ensure adequately essential commodities such as foodstuff, meat, vegetable, confectionary, beverage, petrol and gas and many more in an attempt to minimize scarcity of goods and unexpected price hike.

Reportedly, as of Feb. 28, 2013, businesses joining in the program won a turnover of VND586bil, winning 116% of plan and a 28.5% increase from the last year. The program won positive feedbacks from customers.

Mai Thi Lan in Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city, said “In the past Tet holiday, we bought essential items, especially beverage with cheap price from supermarkets. On the days near Tet, price of pork at traditional markets skyrocketed but Citimart supermarket still sold this product with a stable price”.

Meanwhile, people in remote and rural areas and laborers at industrial parks enjoyed the program through mobile stalls at market-days of bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas.

According to a rep of Thu Dau Mot supermarket, this is the first year we join in the program and realize that curbing speculation of the program is very efficient, winning trust of customers.

Serious inspection and timely support

To ensure the program’s purpose, the local department of Trade and Industry held inspections to using preferential capital of participating units of Ding Hung Trade-Service Co.Ltd., Vinatex Mart, Thu Dau Mot Trade-Service-Investment JSC. Through inspections, these units used capital sources effectively.

Additionally, the department in cooperation with agencies and localities inspected 346 business households to test 480 samples of food. And, the functional agencies reminded hundreds of business households to excel price list.

Thanks to constant and serious inspections, the program took place smoothly and reached high results. The program’s success is considered as an experience lesson for the next time for the sake of customers.
