Pride of heroic land
Le Van Bieu, former head of mechanical artillery battalion 105 under Bien Hoa Mechanical Artillery Regiment 42, said “I was born and grown up in Ben Tre province and joined in resistance war in 1953. Several months later, I went to the North for work. Until 1967 I was assigned to return the South Vietnam to join battlefields. After that, I was nominated as head of mechanical artillery battalion 105”.
“Despite difficulties, we completed our tasks to fight against enemies at areas of Ben Cat district’s Lai Khe, Chon Thanh, Hon Quan, Dau Tieng… Dau Tieng at that time was considered as a “free bombardment area”. Now, the resistance wars ended up and pains were eliminated gradually to replace immense rubber plantations. Promoting the heroic land’s traditions, Dau Tieng people will never forget sacrifice of soldiers and people. Now, Dau Tieng people can be proud of tradition and development. I’m very proud of what I and comrades did during the anti-US resistance war and feel happy when I witness young generation’s efforts in building and developing Dau Tieng district”, he added.
Pham Van Se, veteran in Dinh An commune, Dau Tieng district, revealed “In 1961, at the age of 16 I joined in secret work in service for the country’s liberation cause. In 1963, the US troop set up a big base in Dau Tieng and established a strategic hamlet in 1965. Experiencing difficulties of the resistance war, our soldiers and people rebelled against the US enemy to win victory on March 13, 1975.
Nowadays, Dau Tieng has changed to bring a comfortable life for local people. Witnessing the positive change, I am really satisfied”.
