Profuse goods, stable prices on Tet holiday

With about VND1,445 billion of total amount of essential goods  for Tet 2016 in Binh Duong, it is expected that the supply of goods and food during Tet Festival would be plentiful and price-stabilized.

Careful preparation in all aspects

Until now, most enterprises involved in market stabilizing program in Binh Duong province have completed their production and storing plans to supply to Tet market. According to Department of Trade and Industry, on Tet Festival 2016, businesses would supply goods to not only heavily populated areas but also rural areas and industrial parks, clusters.

According to Ho Van Binh, Deputy Director of Department of Trade and Industry, regarding mobile sales, Economic Chambers at districts, towns and city will survey, determine appropriate locations for arranging mobile sales. The number of sale locations does not need to be plentiful, but selected locations must have high population to provide many people with profuse goods, and for businesses to earn enough costs for next periodical sales.

In addition, in order to take care of people’s health on Tet holiday, Department of Health directed pharmacies at hospitals, districts, towns and city in the province to stabilize prices of common medicines and to sell price-stabilized medicines at medical centers. Retail prices of medicines were prescribed by the health sector, each drug store hung a banner of “Selling location of price-stabilized medicines”.

Tran Phu Cuong, Head of Veterinary Department under Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said from the beginning of November, the department had strengthened coordination with relevant units to examine food safety, crop and livestock disease in the Lunar New Year. The sector also enhanced the inspection on quality, origin of agricultural products, fresh food, fruits and vegetables to ensure food safety at provincial markets.

To ensure price stabilization

According to Big C supermarket, in 2016, Big C Binh Duong and Big C Di An will store a goods volume of over VND491 billion including over VND248 billion of stored goods before, during and after Tet. Vo Huu Thach, Director of Binh Duong Co.opMart, said total value of price-stabilized goods with stored volume in 2016 was over VND126 billion, including over VND46 billion for Tet market. Binh Duong Co.opMart also stabilized prices of goods outside the list.

Regarding petrol, Thalexim and Song Be Petroleum Company guaranteed to supply adequate gasoline to the whole petroleum system in the province on Tet holiday with an expected increase of about 12% compared with the last year.

Provincial Department of Trade and Industry also asked units to track and capture market changes to make analyses, support economic sectors in preparing and storing goods serving Tet market. The department asked units to focus on industrial parks, clusters, retail markets and shops in the province. Market management sector has enhanced inspection, handled strictly violations of unreasonable price increases, speculation to fight against counterfeit goods and protect consumer’s interests.

Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Chairman of PPC, asked the industry and trade sector to cooperate with relevant agencies, localities to deploy plans for Tet preparations that must satisfy requirements: key enterprises must ensure supplies; control sources of food safety, stabilize prices; constrain goods scarcity and virtual prices; satisfy the needs of local people and workers, students, who are studying or working in Binh Duong.
